WiiM’s new Sound Lite speaker is a cheaper HomePod 2

It seems we’re not done with WiiM launches for the year, as the audio brand has another speaker that joins its Sound model it released earlier in 2025.

The WiiM Sound Lite is a cheaper version of the WiiM Sound, dropping the porthole screen (which is rather lovely it must be said) and the WiiM Voice Remote 2, but keeping pretty much all the rest of the specs that the flagship WiiM Sound speaker has. If you thought the Sound was a little too expensive, then the Sound Lite at £229 / $269 is less of an expense.

Like the WiiM Sound, the Sound Lite comes in black and white colourways and retains the touch capacitive/motion activated interface on the speaker’s top surface for track skipping, playback and volume control.

It carries Hi-Res Audio support, offering up to 24-bit/192KHz playback powered by a 100W of peak output.

You can use it as a solo wireless speaker, buy another to create a stereo pair or have it serve as the the surround with a 5.1 home cinema set-up, especially useful if you have a WiiM Amp at hand to knit them all together into a multi-room system. We’ve seen the WiiM Sound as part of a 5.1 system at both the Munich High End and the Paris AV Show.

In addition to Wi-Fi 6E support, there’s Bluetooth 5.3 streaming (for the times when don’t want friends and family to glean your Wi-Fi password), as well as an Ethernet port for plugging directly into the router.

You can stream via Alexa Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Google Cast or through a DLNA set-up on your home network. There’s support for Roon Ready integration, LMS (Lyrion Music Server, which we’ve not heard of before).

There’s no room for AirPlay 2, which is not so much of a surprise given both the WiiM Sound and Sound Lite have the Apple HomePod 2 in their sights.

RoomFit auto correction is there to maintain the speaker’s most optimal sound performance regardless of where you place it, while the WiiM app offers the ability to to customise the EQ, create presets, and manage playback directly from streaming services that you’re subscribed to.

We’ve in the throes of giving the WiiM Sound a listen and like what we hear so far. We imagine the Sound Lite will be a similarly rich and loud performer. You’ll be able to hear itself with pre-orders opening before Christmas 2025 and the wireless speaker going on sale in early January from the likes of Amazon UK and Richer Sounds.
