What would you do if the entire world wanted to kill you? Could you give everyone the slip and win the massive cash prize? That’s what “The Running Man” explores in a bombastic, action-packed spectacle of a movie. Directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell, “The Running Man” takes Stephen King’s original premise and updates it with bigger, bolder action for a new audience.
Right now, though, the only way to experience Wright’s take on the dystopian action thriller is by heading to your local cinema. If you’re hoping to watch from home, you’ll have to wait a little longer before you can watch everything unfold.
In short: You can only Glen Powell sprinting for his life on the big screen right now, but a digital release shouldn’t be too far off, and a streaming debut on Paramount Plus will follow soon after. Here’s everything we know so far.

As of now, “The Running Man” is only available in theaters following its theatrical release on Nov. 14. Paramount hasn’t announced an official digital or streaming date yet, but there’s enough history behind the studio’s release strategy to make a fairly reliable prediction.
Paramount has been consistent with its theatrical-to-digital window over the past year. Most of its major releases, including “A Quiet Place: Day One” and “IF,” became available for purchase and rental on platforms like Amazon, Apple and Vudu about four weeks after opening in theaters. If “The Running Man” follows that same pattern, it should hit digital sometime in early to mid-December.
The subscription streaming question is a little easier to map out. Paramount usually sends its movies to Paramount Plus once the digital window wraps, and that’s usually about 45 to 60 days after it comes to theaters. That puts “The Running Man” on track for a streaming debut in January 2026, assuming the studio doesn’t extend its theatrical run.
So here’s the simplified timeline: a digital release in December, followed by streaming on Paramount Plus in early 2026. For now, though, you’ll have to run to the theater to get your adrenaline fix.

Watch On
When Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is framed for a violent crime he didn’t commit, he’s thrown into the biggest show on the planet: a gladiator-style broadcast where “contestants” are hunted down for sport.
The public eats it up and finds it extremely entertaining, but Ben just wants to stay alive long enough to expose the truth behind the system that condemned him. That’s not especially easy when he’s surrounded by specialized killers known as Stalkers and an entire public who wants him dead.
Luckily for Ben, an underground resistance movement starts to see him as more than just another runner. But the further he gets in the competition, the more the show tries to twist the narrative against him. If he wants to survive (and maybe prove his innocence), the odds are more than stacked against him.
