WhatsApp Is Finally Testing Multiple Account Support on iPhones

WhatsApp may soon make it easier for iPhone users to manage more than one account on the same device. As WABetaInfo reports, the platform is testing native multi-account support, eliminating the need for WhatsApp Business or other workarounds.

The update was spotted by some testers in the latest WhatsApp build on TestFlight, and it allows users to switch accounts from the app’s Settings page. Testers are also able to add or remove accounts from a new “Account List” section.

With the update, just like on Instagram, each account retains its own chat history, notification preferences, and other settings. You also won’t need to restart the app or re-enter login credentials while switching. Once available, the feature should make it easier to keep personal and professional communications separate.

Multiple-account support was first announced for Android in 2023. At the time, WhatsApp said you’ll need to have both SIMs activated on the same device to use the feature. Similar requirements can be expected on iPhone.

A timeline for the rollout on iPhones is unclear. However, since multiple testers are already able to see it, chances are it may arrive on the stable, public version of the app soon.

WhatsApp has been steadily introducing features for the Apple ecosystem. Earlier this month, it made the app available on Apple Watch, allowing users to read and react to full messages or view call notifications, voice messages, and chat history without picking up their iPhones.

To enable these capabilities, you’ll need to download version 25.34.74 of the app from the App Store and have an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 10 or later.
