Xiaomi is setting its sights firmly on mobile photography dominance with its upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which could easily become one of the most powerful camera phones ever made.
Leaks from Digital Chat Station say this flagship will launch with Xiaomi’s own lens system and new LOFIC imaging tech. That means sharper photos, better light control, and probably a whole lot of jaw-dropping shots.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra already won the Best Camera Phone at the Trusted Reviews Awards 2025, and the 17 Ultra looks to build on that top-level performance.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will reportedly feature a massive main sensor – likely 1-inch, like the existing model – with an f/1.6 aperture to capture more light, resulting in brighter, clearer pictures, regardless of the shooting location.
Then there’s the LOFIC tech that’s supposed to handle glare, boost dynamic range, and make night shots look way better – stuff that even big names like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max still don’t quite nail.

On the zoom front, Xiaomi appears to be going all in. Xiaomi is reportedly upgrading the 200MP periscope telephoto lens introduced on the 15 Ultra with an f/8.6 aperture. This means improved zoom versatility and detail retention at long range. Combined with the custom optics, this could make the 17 Ultra a serious rival to the best compact cameras out there.
All that camera power needs serious hardware, and Xiaomi’s got it covered. The 17 Ultra should run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, paired with a huge 6.9-inch 2K OLED screen and a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. A large silicon-carbon battery that is big with fast wired and wireless charging, and it’s built to last all day without drama.
Xiaomi plans to launch the 17 Ultra in China later this year, with a global release likely in 2026. If these leaks are on point, this phone could set a new standard for mobile photography and give camera-obsessed users everywhere a reason to get excited.
