Skip the Queue: GeForce Now Fast Pass Lets Chromebooks Get Right to Gaming

Here’s one more reason to consider using a Chromebook for gaming: Nvidia and Google have introduced GeForce Now Fast Pass, a new tier of Nvidia’s cloud gaming service exclusively for Chromebooks.

GeForce Now Fast Pass takes the current free option available for the service and adds a couple of features from the Performance subscription tier.

    • Access to 2,000-plus games (free)
    • 1080p quality at 60fps (free)
    • 1-hour session limit (free)
    • Priority queue access (Performance)
    • No ads (Performance)

Starting Thursday, a year of Fast Pass service will be included with the purchase of a Chromebook. With it, you get 10 hours of gaming per month and, if you don’t use it all, up to five hours will roll over to the next month. Already own a Chromebook? The service will be available to you, too, but Nvidia hasn’t confirmed pricing.

“Since 2020, Google and Nvidia have been working together closely on cloud gaming,” said Peter Du, communications lead for ChromeOS. “Since we’ve seen more folks adopting GeForce Now on ChromeOS, we’re excited to be able to offer this new option just for our users.”

Cloud gaming services like GeForce Now, Amazon Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming are a perfect fit for Chromebooks, letting you play graphically demanding games without the costly overhead of PC hardware. Also, since GeForce Now uses your existing game library from Steam, Xbox, Epic and others, if you do have a high-end gaming rig, you can get a less expensive Chromebook to play those games from anywhere. Plus, there are now tools built into ChromeOS to make gaming more fun, such as the option to map touch controls to the keyboard.
