Pornhub’s traffic from Xbox fell off a cliff this year, plummeting 69% (yes, really), according to the adult site’s end-of-year stats.
Microsoft’s console now accounts for just 2% of Pornhub’s total traffic from major gaming hardware. PlayStation makes up the remaining 98%, with the PS5 up 11% this year.
It’s been a rough year for Xbox, with Costco no longer stocking the console, and Microsoft raising Xbox prices twice alongside an increase to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. “Xbox hardware is dead,” a former Microsoft gaming studio executive declared earlier this year. (Though, to be fair, Sony also increased PlayStation prices in August.)

Video games and their characters are popular search terms on Pornhub. Fortnite has been the most commonly searched game for the past five years, but in 2025, Genshin Impact dethroned it, bumping Fortnite to number two. Minecraft is in third place, with Overwatch and Pokémon rounding out the top five. Marvel Rivals shot up in the rankings this year from the get-go, becoming the sixth most-searched video game on Pornhub.
Super Mario made the biggest jump, up 14 spots, which Pornhub attributes to the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. The games that dropped the most in the rankings were League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Fallout, all down five spots.
The top-searched video game character was Tifa from Final Fantasy, followed by Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, and Chun Li from Street Fighter.

Pornhub also reported that traffic from mobile phones is down 3.5% as users shift to desktops (+39%) and tablets (+31%). That said, mobile traffic still makes up the majority at 87%. A surge in desktop users are on Linux browsers (+22.4%), although most (70.5%) are using Windows.

Another notable stat is a 47.5% increase in visits from Meta Quest headset users, although overall Meta Quest traffic remained at just 1%.

It’s unclear why people are using the Xbox to look at porn. There’s no official Pornhub app on the Xbox store, so people have to use the console’s built-in browser. Big-screen viewing? Younger gamers trying to avoid detection? Pornhub doesn’t break it down.

As a news and features writer at PCMag, I cover the biggest tech trends that shape the way we live and work. I specialize in on-the-ground reporting, uncovering stories from the people who are at the center of change—whether that’s the CEO of a high-valued startup or an everyday person taking on Big Tech. I also cover daily tech news and breaking stories, contextualizing them so you get the full picture.
I came to journalism from a previous career working in Big Tech on the West Coast. That experience gave me an up-close view of how software works and how business strategies shift over time. Now that I have my master’s in journalism from Northwestern University, I couple my insider knowledge and reporting chops to help answer the big question: Where is this all going?
