Disney+ and Hulu now have a combined login, so you can access Hulu either in its own app or as a Disney+ channel. The Hulu app will get shut down sometime next year. Until then, Disney brings you the ultra-popular Marvel and Star Wars franchises, while Hulu handles a more adult-oriented niche with loads of movies and shows from network partners.
The two services release a ton of content every week, so I’ll make it easy for you by picking three worthwhile things to stream. We’ve got something for preschoolers with Young Jedi Adventures, teens with Percy Jackson, and grown-ups with Inheritance. The full list of TV shows and movies coming to the streaming services is below.
This Week on Hulu and Disney+: PCMag’s Picks
Inheritance (Dec. 5, Hulu)
The infrastructure it takes to make a globetrotting espionage thriller is pretty massive, which is what makes this year’s Inheritance so interesting. Director Neil Burger shot the movie guerilla-style, without permits, showing up in various countries, skipping any setups and filming entirely on an iPhone. Bridgerton‘s Phoebe Dynevor is excellent as Maya, a young woman who reunites with her estranged father only to find out he’s an international spy.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 3 (Dec. 8, Disney+)
The onramp to the Star Wars universe for the littlest padawans among us launches into its third season this month. Young Jedi Adventures is a charming little bit of fluff set in the High Republic era, long before the time the films happen. The Jedi are the peacekeeping force of the Galactic Republic, and even though each episode is self-contained for short attention spans, it does justice to the franchise.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Season 2 (Dec. 10, Disney+)
Disney’s take on Rick Riordan’s mega-selling mythological franchise really does justice to the material. It’s a propulsive, well-acted show that gives itself room to flesh out characters while still delivering big action set pieces and solid effects. The second season adapts Percy Jackson and the Golden Fleece, where Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood to discover it under assault by monsters. With the aid of a new Cyclops friend and some old favorites, he must discover the magical artifact that can save it.
