One UI 8 is old news now as we gear up for the One UI 8.5 beta program, which, according to previous leaks, is set to begin on December 8th. The firmware will be based on Android 16 QPR2 and is expected to bring a handful of new features. While we wait for the beta program to kick off, the first One UI 8.5 firmware for the Galaxy S24 Ultra has now surfaced.
Galaxy S24 Ultra One UI 8.5 firmware details
Tipster Tarun Vats has spotted the first One UI 8.5 internal firmware for the Galaxy S24 series, more specifically, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The build number is S928BXXU4DYL5/ S928BOXM4DYL5/ S928BXXU4DYL5. There’s a chance this build will also leak, much like how the test firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 7 has.
The changelog for the upcoming One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series leaked earlier this week. Most of those changes should apply to the Galaxy S24 lineup as well. However, it isn’t clear whether Samsung would include the Galaxy S24 series in the upcoming One UI 8.5 beta program.
One UI 8.5 beta program could be on its way
One UI 8.5 stable will officially debut on the Galaxy S26 lineup early next year. The recently leaked One UI 8.5 changelog showed what’s in store. Galaxy AI will get continuous image generation. Photo Assist now lets you generate AI images using different Photo Assist features without saving each iteration. Bixby will bring smarter device controls. With conversation history, you’ll be able to look back through past conversations from the Bixby app.
The storage share feature will let you access your files anywhere. Files from Samsung phones, tablets, and PCs will be available via the My Files app on your smartphone. You can connect to your favorite display faster with Quick Connect to Smart View devices. Samsung will also revamp the battery info in One UI 8.5. Soon you’ll be able to see your battery stats more clearly. Lastly, there will be changes to Clock, Samsung Health, Security, and Privacy.
