It’s no secret that Black Friday is one of the best days of the year to buy a new TV. What might come as a surprise to some, however, is that many of the best TV deals go live in the weeks and days leading up to the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. This is happening right now to one of my favorite OLED TVs of 2025: the LG B5.
Right now, the LG B5 starts at just $599 at Best Buy for a 48-inch model — $700 off its usual price. The rest of the sizes of the B5 are on sale ahead of Black Friday, too, making what was already the best-value OLED TV of 2025 even more of a sensible pick for people who were hoping to save money on a genuinely excellent TV this year.
Like all OLEDs, each of the LG B5’s millions of pixels are self-illuminating. This is an advantage that has a hugely positive impact on picture quality. The B5 delivers perfect black levels and pixel-level dimming, eliminating the light bloom you might’ve noticed on backlit LED TVs.
While it’s true that the higher-end LG C5 OLED will net you better brightness than the B5, you’re still getting OLED performance with LG’s entry-level set. Even in its entry-level form, OLED is a wonder to behold.
It’s one of the reasons why its relatively affordable, entry-level status shouldn’t deter you from considering the B5. It might not offer the sort of highlight brightness you’d find on similarly priced LCD/LED TVs, but the self-emissive nature of OLED will have these highlights looking brighter.
Even in its entry-level form, OLED is a wonder to behold.
As far as features go, the B5 offers many of the same bells and whistles as higher-end OLEDs like the C5. That’s especially good news for dedicated gamers, because they’re getting basically everything they need. The B5 supports 4K gaming at 120Hz and comes with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), AMD FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility.
All four of its HDMI inputs offer HDMI 2.1 compatibility. For a $599, 48-inch TV, that’s not easy to come by.
