Spooky season is over, but the best streaming services are still serving up plenty of treats this weekend with a smorgasbord of must-watch movies. All those options can make narrowing down what to watch next a pain, especially given that a whopping 43 new movies and shows landed on Netflix alone this month.

That’s why every weekend you’ll find me combing through the Netflix top 10 to highlight the best of the best so you don’t waste your precious streaming time. Granted, not every movie that makes it into the Netflix top 10 is guaranteed to be a winner, but there are some gems among the over-hyped duds.

This week, that includes the earworm-filled hit of the summer from the animation team behind the “Spider-Verse” films, Netflix’s latest haunting true crime documentary, and a stylish psychological thriller from the director of “Conclave.”

Not feeling any of these picks? For even more streaming recommendations, be sure to check out our guide to everything new on Netflix this month. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the three must-watch movies in Netflix’s top 10.

This article is based on Netflix’s top 10 movies list in the U.S. as of 11:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, November 1.

Best movies in the Netflix top 10

‘Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers’ (2025)

Netflix’s latest true crime documentary has shot to the top of the charts this weekend. While that’s hardly unusual given how often true-crime stories and thrillers nab the #1 spot, “Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers” is noteworthy because it revives a true crime tale that already got the Hollywood treatment. several times over: first in 1992 in the documentary “Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer” and movie “Overkill: The Aileen Wuornos Story,” in which she was played by Jean Smart; and again when Charlize Theron played her in the 2003 movie “Monster.”

Netflix promises its new documentary gives a new perspective on the infamous case that we haven’t seen before, including never-before-seen interviews with Aileen herself, who killed seven men across central Florida between 1989 and 1990. She was sentenced to death and executed in 2022, but it’s clear her story and crimes continue to fascinate audiences even now, decades later.

‘Ballad of a Small Player’ (2025)

    Watch On

The Oscar-winning director of “Conclave” Edward Berger returns with a slow-burning psychological thriller starring Colin Farrell. He plays Lord Doyle, a seemingly minor noble haunted by debts with just enough money to bet it all on a high-stakes gambling spree in Macau. As he navigates the siren’s song of the glittering casino floors, a mysterious casino manager (Fala Chen) gives him the benefit of the doubt against her best judgment and offers him a dangerous kind of hope.

But his creditors have a vested interest in keeping his luck down in the dumps, including one particularly determined private investigator played by Tilda Swinton. I’d recommend skipping the trailer if you’re interested in checking this one out, as it spoils a big reveal halfway through the movie.

    ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ (2025)

    Watch On

Netflix’s biggest hit of all time, “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” continues to show how it’s “done, done, done” with its 20th week straight in the Netflix top 10. You don’t have to be a K-pop fan to enjoy it (I’m not), because this bubble-gum pop animated adventure is oozing with enough style and heart to keep you invested. Just don’t blame me when you can’t get its songs out of your head.

“K-Pop Demon Hunters” follows chart-topping idols Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) — a hit K-pop trio who are actually the latest in a long line of demon hunters. They use their harmony to shield the world from supernatural evils, but they finally meet their match when a group of demons disguised as a rival boy band start climbing the charts. With the souls of their fans on the line, the trio gears up to slay the day, but victory will mean conquering their own inner demons first.
