With Black Friday deals kicking into high gear, you’re doubtlessly thinking about saving on a new handset via one of the many phone deals floating around out there. But don’t forget to find a good deal on wireless service for that phone. In that case, Mint Mobile has a pretty compelling offer to keep monthly wireless costs in check.

Sign up for a full year of service with Mint, and the T-Mobile-owned discount carrier will give you 12 months of unlimited data for a total of $180 — or $15/month. That’s half off the rate Mint normally charges for its unlimited data plan.

The catch with Mint is that you have to pay for your service up front — in this case, that’s a one-time payment of $180 to cover the full year of service. But when that’s $180 less than what you’d normally have to pay, the discount may be too compelling to ignore.

Mint is one of the best phone carriers for low-cost service for a couple of reasons. First, as a T-Mobile-owned operation, it uses the extensive network of its parent company, and as T-Mobile is fond of pointing out, testing firm Ookla rates the carrier’s network as tops for the first half of this year.

Mint customers benefit from that performance, and while traffic from Mint is subject to slowdowns if T-Mobile’s network is congested, I haven’t noticed drops in performance when I’ve given Mint a try.

Second, that reduced rate compares favorably to what you’ll pay for the best unlimited data plans at other low-cost carriers. Normally, Mint’s regular rate on unlimited data is undercut by Boost, Visible and Tello, which all have unlimited plans that start at $25/month. Mint’s current offer drops the cost of its plan below that of its competitors.

Mint’s unlimited plan isn’t packed with perks — the best cheap phone plans rarely are — but there are some noteworthy things included in the plan. Mint doesn’t place a cap on data, so your speeds won’t drop even if you use a lot of data each month. You get 10GB of high-speed hotspot data with the unlimited plan, and calls to Mexico, Canada and the U.K. are covered.

If you need more than just a new phone carrier, you can stack Mint’s unlimited data plan discount with additional deals that let you save on phones. As of this writing, Mint is taking $450 off the Galaxy S25 lineup, with additional savings of up to $200 with a trade-in. Mint has deals on the latest Pixel 10 models, too.
