Microsoft and NVIDIA have just announced a major monetary investment in Anthropic as part of a new partnership between the three companies. The deal is worth billions and is the potential catalyst for Anthropic’s now head-spinning $350 billion valuation. The announcement was made on November 18 on Microsoft’s official blog. The deal, which benefits all parties involved, also has some suspecting that an AI bubble is about to burst.
For NVIDIA’s part, this will be the first time that it has established a deep partnership with Anthropic in the AI space. Anthropic has committed to up to 1 gigawatt of AI compute capacity with NVIDIA Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems as part of the deal. NVIDIA will work with Anthropic to design and engineer ways for Anthropic’s models to get the best performance possible on NVIDIA’s hardware. The two will also work to improve the optimization on future NVIDIA hardware so Anthropic’s models run even smoother and more efficiently.
The deal with Microsoft and NVIDIA is one of at least a few deals Anthropic has made in the last few months. Earlier this month, Ahtropic announced it would be investing $50 billion into building US data centers. Back in October, it announced a partnership with Google for Tensor chips.
The investment from Microsoft and NVIDIA means Anthropic is now valued at $350 billion
This is a big piece of this partnership and is highly likely to be a factor in shaping where AI goes from here. This new valuation, following the announcement of today’s partnership, is nearly double what Anthropic was valued at before. Prior to this deal, it was valued in the range of $183 billion.
OpenAI, Anthropic’s largest rival, will also likely be racing to continue advancing its technologies and models. Both Microsoft and NVIDIA have previously backed OpenAI, and now they’re expanding to foster a partnership with the company’s competition.
As part of the partnership, Microsoft says it will invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic. Meanwhile, NVIDIA says it will be investing up to $5 billion. In addition to the money coming from both sides, Anthropic says it will be making its Claude AI models accessible to customers of Microsoft Foundry. This includes Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.1, and Claude Haiku 4.5.
