Love Spotify Wrapped? Spotify Launches Weekly Shareable Recap

Spotify Wrapped has made a big impact since it first rolled out in 2016, making an annual appearance on end-of-year social media feeds everywhere, while music streaming rivals like Apple and Amazon would later roll out similar shareable recap features.

Now, Spotify is rolling out Listening Stats, a new feature that gives you a weekly shareable snapshot of what you’ve been listening to over the past month. It’s available for both Free and Premium Spotify users, so you won’t need to stump up $11.99 a month for a Premium account to get access to it.

The new tool will not only show your top artists and songs from the past four weeks, but also serve up a new playlist inspired by what you’ve been listening to, with new track suggestions. Listening Stats will also provide what it calls a “special highlight” that “makes your listening unique,” for example, when you discovered a new song.

You’ll be able to share your stats directly via apps like Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, as well as with friends who have the Spotify app.

If you want to try out the feature, you’ll need to click on your profile image to open the menu and then click on the Listening Stats tab. You’ll then need to tap Share if you want to post your weekly stats or individual highlights on your social media feed.

Spotify has been continuing to progressively update Wrapped almost a decade after it launched. The end of 2024 included a new integration with Google’s NotebookLM, which allowed you to create an AI-generated podcast based on your year in music, with the artificial hosts discussing your picks.

Spotify’s Free account users have also been getting some major boosts to their experience as of late. In September, they gained the ability to search for and play specific songs, rather than being forced to head directly to shuffled playlists or albums, though users were limited to one song at a time before the app started to shuffle. Meanwhile, in October, users gained the ability to simply block songs they hate, permanently stopping them from showing up in their playlists.
