Logitech’s New Mechanical Keyboard Absorbs Vibrations

Logitech just announced the Alto Keys K98M, a new wireless mechanical keyboard. This keyboard combines a compact design with features like a unique gasket mount and hot-swappable switches, and you can expect it to already be shipping.

What really sets the Alto Keys K98M apart is its UniCushion gasket design, a feature that absorbs vibrations as you type. This creates a much smoother, softened sound and a more satisfying typing feel. You get the feedback you are expecting, but not in a very pronounced way. So it would feel like you’re pushing the keys into pillows or some form of cushion instead of the usual feel of a keyboard or harder keys.

The Alto Keys K98M is also highly customizable thanks to its hot-swappable Marble Switches. This means you aren’t locked into one specific typing feel. You can swap out the switches to create a sound and feel that adjusts with you and your preferences. This is excellent for anyone who likes to try different feels and styles but doesn’t want to buy multiple keyboards. The keyboard also comes equipped with high-quality PBT keycaps, which are known for their smooth and durable finish.

The keyboard uses a compact 98-key layout, which means you get full functionality, including a number pad, but in a space-saving design that works well for modern workspaces. From what I see of the design, the translucent frame and clean lines make it feel a lot cleaner than most keyboards, and I’d think it’d help make the desk feel fresher. The subtle backlighting is a nice touch, too.

When it comes to connectivity and software, the Alto Keys K98M can be used in many ways. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy and the Logi Bolt USB Receiver for multi-OS compatibility with Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux, iPadOS, and Android devices. Plus, you get Easy-Switch keys, letting you pair with up to three devices and switch between them seamlessly.

The keyboard also comes with AI-powered Personalization through the Logi Options+ App. This app lets you customize keys, automate common tasks, and even access AI tools with a single press. The function row is fully customizable, and there’s a dedicated AI Launch Key. This could be annoying, but usually there is a way to turn that key off through the built-in app or PowerToys if you use Windows.

As a wireless device, battery life is always a concern, but the Alto Keys K98M looks like it is going to last the test of time. It has a rechargeable battery that can last for up to 12 months of wireless use with the backlighting off. If you do need to charge it, you can just plug it in and keep typing, which is a great solution that more keyboards should adopt.

The Logitech Alto Keys K98M is priced at $119, and the company claimed it started to ship in September 2025, so it should be at your door soon. You can buy it on the Logitech website when it releases.
