There’s nothing like marathon day in New York City, and on Sunday, November 2, 2025, more than 50,000 runners will line up to take on all five boroughs of the city in the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. If you’re unable to head out to the sidelines or want to watch the elite race from the comfort of your couch, wherever you are in the world, here’s more on how to watch the 2025 New York City Marathon.

The New York City Marathon takes place today (November 2, 2025)

The runners will travel 26.2 miles from Staten Island to Central Park in Manhattan and whether you’re running, cheering, or just spectating this year, remember that Daylight Saving Time on the East Coast of the US ends in the early hours of Sunday morning, so be sure to check and double-check your alarm.
The New York City Marathon kicks off at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday, November 2, with the wheelchair race. The handcycle athletes start at 8:22 a.m. before the elite women begin racing at 8:40 a.m.. The elite men start running at 9:05 a.m., then the mass-participation race gets going with the first wave starting at 9:10 a.m.. Runners will then be released in waves. Wave 2 begins at 9:45 a.m., wave 3 begins at 10:20 a.m., wave 4 at 10:55 a.m., and wave 5 at 11.30 a.m..
How to watch the NYC Marathon on TV or online
Wherever you are in the world, there’s a way to watch the marathon.
If you’re in New York, WABC-TV, Channel 7, will air the marathon live from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET. The station’s website ABC7NY.com, will also run a live stream of the finishing line, starting at 10:00 a.m., and continuing until the final runner crosses the finish line. The ABC 7 New York App will also offer full race streaming for viewers in the Tri-State area.
The National Broadcast in the US will be on ESPN2 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ET. ESPN+ viewers can stream extended coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Later in the day, ABC will air a two-hour program from the finish line between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.

How to watch 2025 TCS New York City Marathon from anywhere in the world

If you’re out and about, and not glued to the live stream, you can catch the race-day broadcast on iHeartRadio’s 710 WOR AM and 104.3HD2 in New York, starting at 7:00 a.m. ET. You can also listen via the iHeartRadio app from 8:00 a.m. ET.
How to track runners at the NYC Marathon
Whether you’re at home or out on the course, the easiest way to track runners is by using the NYRR app, which is free to download on Android and iOS. All of the runners on the course will be wearing a race number, which has a chip in it, allowing you to track their exact location on the course.
To track a runner, simply head to the tracking section of the app ‘tracking’ section of the app, where you will be able to search for them by name or bib number. There is no limit to the number of spectators tracking one runner, so get the whole family involved.

To add a runner, click the plus (+) symbol above their bib number. It will then display a tick if you have added the runner successfully. On Sunday, you will be able to see your runner’s live progress on the course. The tracking will capture your runner’s time every 5K, halfway, and when they cross the finish line.
From the app, you’ll be able to see your runner’s pace and splits, their expected finish time, and their expected finish time of day, based on when they started running. You’ll also be able to share the live tracking with family and friends and pre-order race photos (a great holiday gift idea).
