Nacua is Stafford’s favorite target by a distance. Only one NFL player has racked up more receiving yards than his 616, and Nacua’s been pretty useful on the ground too, gaining 52 yards and a score off three attempts. While Davante Adams has more receiving touchdowns, he’s barely made half of Nacua’s yardage.
The timing will feel like a real kick in the teeth for Sean McVay, especially with the NFC West so finely balanced. The Jaguars have exceeded all expectations, but that secondary, which ranked dead-last in the NFL last season, remains the team’s weak link. That’s saying something, seeing as Jacksonville’s O-line allowed seven sacks of Trevor Lawrence in the defeat to the Seahawks last weekend.
Byron Young and Jared Verse have combined for 10.5 sacks, putting the Rams in the top five for that metric. Lawrence would do well, therefore, to lean on Travis Etienne Jr., one of the league’s top-10 RBs. One further interesting note is that the Jaguars lead the NFL in intercepted takeaways. In other words, if Stafford gets his range right he could slaughter them. If not, the equation could flip right on its head.
