As the smaller, younger fighter, Benn’s best hope lies in the high-risk, high-reward maneuver of setting a furious pace, and either going for an early knockout or biding his time in hope that “Next Gen” eventually runs out of steam. He went with the first option seven months ago, only for it to backfire.
Because he wasn’t quite able to muster the power to send Eubank crashing to the canvas, it was Benn who ended the first fight running on fumes. It went the distance with the judges scoring it unanimously in Eubank’s favor. Crucially, he won the 11th and 12th outright, while the judges were split on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th rounds.
Despite Eubank making a meal of the rehydration clause, he also landed more punches (367 to 215) and more power punches (227 to 180), and had the superior landing percentage (40% to 36%).
You can always count on Eddie Hearn to milk a cash-cow dry, so at 36 years old Eubank needs to win to kill off any talk of a trilogy, and get back to challenging for titles. At 29, “The Destroyer” theoretically still has years ahead of him, but this could be his final opportunity to get points in the Benn column of this generational grudge match.

Bad blood has been brewing all week, as the American Kurt Scoby (18-1) has been using his superhuman frame to try to intimidate his opponent.
