    TL;DR

    • Google’s sharing a few new upgrades to Chrome’s ability to autofill website forms.
    • The browser will start automatically suggesting autofill options based on your signed-in Google account.
    • Autofill suggestions on mobile are getting bigger and easier to read.

OK, don’t panic: Black Friday has come and gone, and you still didn’t manage to clear your holiday shopping list. That’s fine, and you’ve still got a little time left to find the perfect gifts for everyone in your life. But with the clock running down, who wants to waste time filling out payment and shipping info on website after website? We just learned about some powerful upgrades to Chrome’s autofill tools last month, and now we’ve got even more on the way.

Don’t want to miss the best from Android Authority?

When you’re using Chrome, signing into the browser with your Google account already makes it easy to keep track of things like bookmarks and your browsing history across devices. And now Chrome’s learning to tap into that, proactively pulling up your name and email when you begin interacting with forms.

That extends to your physical address as well, using the home and work addresses you’ve saved to your Google account.

Google Wallet already stores data from lots of our cards, and beyond the obvious payment ones, we can also save loyalty card information in there. Chrome is now picking up the ability to access those loyalty cards from Wallet, offering to fill in their info when websites request it.

While Google’s example there has us thinking about cars, the company reminds us of the enhanced autofill options it started delivering in November, including the ability to complete forms requesting vehicle info, like plate numbers.

So far these upgrades have been for Chrome on Android and desktop alike, but Google’s also got some mobile-first tweaks. Your desktop browser may offer all the space in the world, on smaller mobile screens, Chrome wants to make sure it’s giving you the room you need to see all the information that matters. And that’s why Google’s expanding previews of autofill suggestions in Chrome on Android to now spread out across two lines:

Finally, Google shares that Chrome is getting smarter about all the many edge cases that pop up around the world, challenging the browser’s ability to work with forms and the data within. Those include better handling of unusual address formats, like when a destination is described as between two adjacent streets, or names that involve phonetic spelling (coming soon).
