Google will let up to 15 Pixel Superfans test out unreleased phones and submit feedback, Bloomberg reports.
The Pixel Superfans program has been around since 2020 and is a space where Pixel fans come together to discuss all things Pixel. Members get access to exclusive events, Q&A opportunities with Google’s employees, and a private Discord channel.
While these perks still exist, Google has initiated a new contest where winners get a hands-on experience with unreleased Pixel phones. The idea behind the program is “to provide feedback and help shape a Pixel phone currently in development,” according to a document viewed by Bloomberg.
To join the Trusted Tester program, Superfans must showcase their in-depth knowledge of Pixel phones and suggest areas of improvement. Google will then select 15 winners, who will be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to receive the phones. They will also be asked to place the phones in a protective case to avoid leaks.
The contest arrives at a time when smartphone manufacturers are finding it difficult to keep their next big product under wraps. Leaks about phones from big players like Apple, Samsung, and Google start surfacing months before official release. Earlier this year, Google tried taking the sting out of this by revealing the look of its Pixel 10 phones a month before their public launch.

While it’s common for companies to hand over in-development phones to employees for testing and feedback, handing over the same to regular users is unheard of. In Apple’s case, even the former approach had backfired recently. iOS 26 got leaked months before WWDC 25, resulting in a lawsuit and the termination of an employee whose phone the software leaked from.
The next Pixel phones aren’t expected until August 2026, so Superfans who win the contest may not get the phones anytime soon. Signing up for the Pixel Superfans program, though, is absolutely free.
