Smartphone videography fans can now look forward to the all-new DJI Osmo Mobile 8 smartphone stabilizer and gimbal. Less than a year after releasing the Mobile 7 Pro series, DJI announced a new and improved Osmo Mobile 8, packed with helpful features.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 8 comes equipped with the company’s 3-axis gimbal stabilization technology, but now it’s better than ever. For starters, it can now connect directly to your phone. Other features include a revamped 360-degree unlimited panning video mode, which sounds pretty great. Better yet, the tilt and pan modes support better object tracking.
For example, video fans can capture stunning 360-degree videos while panning, and tracking is better than ever. DJI mentions a new ActiveTrack 7.0 technology should improve the device’s tracking of objects. It’ll also track pets now, which could be fun. When combined with the DJI Mimo app, owners can even enable a dual-tracking feature.
However, it sounds like this model used the same multifunctional module as the older Osmo Mobile 7 series. The side-mounted accessory still doubles as a wireless receiver, includes an LED light fill, and everything else from prior models.

We loved the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P in our review earlier this year, and this latest generation looks to build on everything that made it great. However, we’re not quite sure when it’ll come to the United States. Today, it’s only available in China.
Videography fans will love the built-in extension rod, improved 10 hours of battery life per charge, and USB-C charging. And while you probably won’t do it often, the Osmo Mobile 8 can double as a portable battery, and that USB-C port can charge a smartphone. Or at least give it some extra juice when you’re out and about.
The magnetic phone clamp 4 is now stronger and more secure than ever, ensuring the biggest and latest phones attach with ease. According to the announcement, the Mobile 8 comes with the Phone Clamp 4, a new multi-function tracking module, charging cable, and more. Then, the company will charge a little extra for a “Vlog kit” of some sort.
The new DJI Osmo Mobile 8 is only available in China and is priced at around 898 Chinese Yuan, or $125. The company didn’t say when it’ll launch for other regions, but it’ll likely arrive sooner rather than later. If you don’t want to wait or don’t need the latest and greatest, the Osmo Mobile 6 is often on sale.
