Over the summer, DJI unveiled its latest product. No, not a drone, but a camera — the Osmo 360. This is the company’s first 360-degree camera, and DJI has come out of the gate strong. And for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, the Osmo 360 is now on sale for $357, down from the original price of $550, saving you nearly $200.
This camera is a powerhouse, capable of native 8K/30fps 360-degree panoramic video using two 1-inch square HDR sensors (square sensors allow for 25% more sensor utilization than traditional rectangular sensors). These sensors have a dynamic range of 13.5 stops, which, combined with the f/1.9 aperture, allow the camera to handle low-light or high-contrast shots.

Video can be shot in both 10-bit color depth, which allows for over a billion colors, and D-Log, which boosts dynamic range and allows for greater flexibility in post-processing.
360 cameras and IP68-rated
On top of that, the Osmo 360 can capture 120-megabyte 360-degree shots and offers a whopping 100 minutes of runtime on a single battery when recording at 8K/30fps, despite the 1,950mAh batteries being smaller and lighter than the 2,400mAh batteries found in the X5. The batteries are built for extreme conditions, capable of 90-minute runtime at temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F).
The battery might be smaller than those found in competing products, but it delivers amazing runtime.

As far as 360 cameras are concerned, this is the new gold standard, putting pressure on competitors such as the Insta360 X5 and the aging GoPro Max — and all this comes in a package weighing just 183g.
The camera has the traditional dual-lens setup we’re used to on 360-degree cameras, and the interface allows users to quickly and easily switch between them to capture the shot they want. In single-lens, first-person mode, the Osmo 360 is capable of 5K/60fps at a 155-degree ultra-wide angle and Boost video at 4K/120fps for a 170-degree field of view. There’s also horizon lock and image stabilization built into the camera, allowing the most chaotic moments to be captured.

Also, you can forget microSD cards, as the Osmo 360 has 105GB of built-in storage. And if that’s not enough, you can, of course, augment this with microSD cards up to 1TB.
The multifunction battery case that comes with the Adventure Combo is a great way to charge and store batteries.

In addition to the lenses, the Osmo 360 packs four microphones capable of capturing 16-bit audio while filtering out distractions such as wind noise. For better audio capture, the Osmo 360 supports OsmoAudio Direct Microphone Connection, which allows users to connect the camera to up to two DJI microphone transmitters.

Action cameras need to be ready for action, and the Osmo 360 certainly is. The camera is rated IP68 and can withstand immersion up to 10 meters.
When it comes time to edit the footage, DJI offers users a full suite of tools on mobile devices or desktop computers. DJI Mimo’s GyroFrame technology allows users to adjust the composition of a 360-degree video using motion control, and intelligent tracking allows the shot to lock onto and follow people, vehicles, pets and more.
The Adventure Combo comes with a cool “invisible” selfie stick for getting a different angle on things.
