When do Cyber Monday deals actually start?
Key dates for 2025
Black Friday: Friday, 28th November
Cyber Monday: Monday, 1st December
Cyber Monday is the first Monday of December, but you shouldn’t rigidly stick to that date if you’re looking for deals. As you probably already know, Cyber Monday directly follows Black Friday and is essentially a ‘sister sale’ of sorts. Many of the deals from Cyber Monday will be identical to those offered over Black Friday.
It’s also worth noting that most retailers start their Black Friday sales well ahead of the big day itself, so it’s definitely worth checking out sales from early. I usually recommend shoppers start keeping an eye out from early November onwards.
Black Friday vs Cyber Monday: which is better?
Honestly? As someone who’s covered both for over five years, I can tell you that it’s more or less a wash right now. It used to be the case that Cyber Monday was more of a tech-focused event, while Black Friday was more of a general sale, but these days, there isn’t much between them in terms of content or deal quality.
Most of the retailers that take part in Black Friday will also hold Cyber Monday sales. In some cases, they may even launch a sale early under ‘seasonal’ or ‘holiday’ branding as a generic term for both. It’s also extremely common for retailers to launch discounts early in November and then roll them through to early December.
How to get the best Cyber Monday deals
First things first, we’ll be rounding up all the best Cyber Monday deals right here, so if you want an easy-to-navigate index of expert recommendations, just simply bookmark this page and revisit.
Regardless of whether you’ll be flying solo or not, however, we do still have some tips to help score the best possible Cyber Monday deals.
1. Check in early
As with the prior Black Friday deals (which happen weeks in advance), we always recommend checking in early to see what’s on sale. While it’s not always the case, the best deals from Black Friday generally spill over into the weekend and Cyber Monday. Even if you don’t buy early, I always recommend taking a look so you have more time researching your options.
2. Know what you’re looking for
We’d definitely recommend drawing up a basic shopping list or a list of requirements well before Cyber Monday lands. For example, if you’re looking for something like a 4K TV, set your budget, determine what size you need, and do a bit of reading in regard to brands and features. Similarly, with laptops, you should think about what kind of specs and power you’ll need and visit sites like Dell and HP beforehand to gauge what they’re likely to offer on the day.
3. Be prepared to buy alternatives
Following on from our second tip, we’d also recommend keeping an open mind in regard to what’s exactly going to be on sale. You may have a crystal picture of the exact laptop you want to buy beforehand, but find that it’s not as heavily reduced as another similar choice. In this case, it’s often best to be brand-agnostic if you want to bag the best Cyber Monday deals.

Which retailers have the best Cyber Monday deals?
Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart tend to have the biggest overall sales over Cyber Monday, and they also tend to be the most popular events with our readers. With that said, I would say that more specialist retailers like Dell, Adorama, or HP are just as good as the big stores. Really, it depends on what you’re looking for.
We’ve rounded up a few ‘mini-reviews’ for the top Cyber Monday retailers just down below, based on our own experience from covering their events.
