Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set: Review in Brief
For the bed sheet shopper who wants a luxurious cotton sheet set, the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set is a mid-range option that can give your bed a hotel-style feel. A twin flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillowcase starts at $159 MSRP in white, going up to Cali king size (with two pillowcases) for $239 MSRP in certain prints.
We tested these bed sheets against key parameters, such as feel, how well they fit on the bed, cooling elements, breathability, and durability, to help you decide if they’re a worthwhile purchase.
Going to the Brooklinen website and signing up for emails can help you snag various discounts and deals, like free shipping on orders over $100 and 15% off at the time we checked it out. There may be bigger savings to be found during Black Friday sales, and we also spotted Cyber Monday deals last year, so it could be worth adding these to your cart and take advantage of upcoming sales.

Based on our testing experience, we awarded these bed sheets a 4.6 out of five stars. They look beautiful on the bed, felt lovely to sleep under during New York summer months and cooler temps in early fall, and they were easy to care for.
As per our bed sheet testing methodology, we put these sheets through two wash and dry cycles, once at the start of the testing period and once at the end. The sheets felt structured and high quality at first touch and great to sleep under if you like a little weight to your sheets. We didn’t get a buttery-soft or silky feel from them if that’s what you’re looking for, but they’re a traditional cotton sheet set that is said to “get softer with each use” according to the website.
While they aren’t designed to be actively cooling in the way some other sheets we’ve tested are – like the SIJO AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set – they were very comfortable to sleep under when air conditioning was on in hot summer months and still felt cool and comfortable in the fall in New York when temps were in the 40s and 50s in the evenings and mornings. They’re a great year-round sheet that we think most sleepers would enjoy.
We liked that while they could be ironed if needed, we thought they looked mostly wrinkle-free on the bed hours after coming out of the dryer. (Although we did test one of the patterned sheet sets and a solid color might show wrinkles more noticeably.)
Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Hardcore Sheet Set: Price & deals
The Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set starts at $159 MSRP for a twin/twin XL in white, going up to $239 MSRP for the California king in certain print options — the price can vary depending on which color/print you select, with print options $10 more.
For comparing pricing to other sheet sets we reviewed, the queen flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases we tried in the ‘Oyster in Pebble’ print costs $209 MSRP. At the time of writing there was 15% off the Luxe Sateen Core sheet set, dropping that price to $177.65.
In general, we’d put these in a medium price category which we think is fair considering the high-quality product, free shipping and return policy. Brooklinen offer a 1 year warranty on all products and an additional year on ‘core’ products, which includes sheets, but not pillowcases.
To compare the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set to some other brands, the Cozy Earth Bamboo sheet set currently costs $246.40 ($308 MSRP) for a queen set, while the 100 percent cotton, Coop Cotton Percale Sheet Set is $199 for a queen, and these Amazon Basics Cotton Jersey sheets are from $32.29 for a queen size.
We’ve seen various colors have final sales and “last call” deals on the site where you can get up to 50 percent off the retail price with certain colors (though these are non-returnable) and Brooklinen has deals throughout the year on various bedding products.
It’s also worth mentioning that f you want to completely overhaul the look of your bed, there’s also the option of the Luxe Sateen Hardcore Sheet Bundle, which includes the Core Sheet Set, and a Luxe Sateen Duvet Cover and additional Luxe Sateen pillowcase set. Prices start at $311.56 (was $447), which equates to a 30% discount. You can also mix and match colors in the bundle so it’s a fresh way to change up the look of your bedding while getting a good deal.
Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set: Design & materials

These 100 percent cotton sheets have a 480-thread count and are crafted using a sateen weave. They feel soft and expensive but despite the fact sateen weave typically creates a silky feel, we’d describe it more as a structured and substantial than the feel of a percale sheet, a soft jersey sheet or the silky cooling feel of Tencel fabric. Made in India, the sheets are OEKO-TEX Standard-100 certified.
We tested these sheets during a hot August and September in New York as well as during cooler fall days. We wouldn’t say they felt cool to the touch or felt like they were absorbing sweat like some cooling sheets do, but we didn’t wake up sweaty in them. One overnight guest tested them and commented on how nice they felt in a cool basement room during the summer.
These were easy to care for in the washing machine in cool water and tumble dry low. We used regular unscented liquid detergent even though Brooklinen’s recommendations say to use only non-chlorine bleach (they also suggest their own detergent).
The Luxe Sateen sheets didn’t look wrinkly on the bed and any creases were easy to smooth out. The brand recommends replacing sheets every two years – that’s probably why their warranty lasts that long – and to be mindful of pets’ nails that can catch on fabric and result in tears.

We tested the Brooklinen sheet set in the white-tan ‘Oyster in Pebble’ print for two weeks and assessed it in terms of feel, how tough the sheets were to care for, and more. Scroll down to know more…
How they feel
The long-staple cotton sheets are made with a sateen weave which is supposed to give them a little shine and help them drape nicely. We thought they had a great, classic, cool sheet feel. They reminded us of hotel sheets – more firm than silky soft – but still with that luxe vibe.
Since they’re supposed to continue to soften with more washes and wear, it makes sense that they start off feeling more structured. They felt great when we slept in warmer temperatures and cooler weather, making them a nice, versatile option for any time of year. We think they’d be a great option for most sleepers.

How they fit
Pulling the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet onto a king size mattress was so easy. We slipped them on a 12-inch mattress and had no issues with the fit.
The flat/top sheet gracefully fell over each side of the mattress with room to spare so each sleeper gets plenty of sheet real estate before middle-of-the-night thievery begins. The sheets stayed put overnight.

Temperature regulation

In general, sateen weave cotton isn’t the bed sheet fabric one should buy if they struggle with sweating during the night, or tend to just sleep hot, as this weave is denser. A percale weave is usually better for those cooling benefits.
Brooklinen has a Classic Percale sheet set that could be a stronger choice for cooling features, however, we found the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet performed perfectly well and we didn’t wake up sweaty or with sweat-soaked sheets, but traditional hot sleepers might not find this set cooling enough.

Durability
After two wash cycles and two weeks of consistent use, then another one-week trial in cooler months, we thought these sheets felt great. Brooklinen says they’ll get softer with each wash and recommends swapping in another sheet set in between washes to help keep them feeling great for as long as possible.
During our testing, we didn’t notice shrinkage of the sheets, tears, pulls, or rips. Brooklinen suggests sheets should be replaced two years – and won’t replace products beyond that timeline – so that’s worth keeping in mind. Some online reviewers said the quality went downhill after a year or so but since we didn’t test that long, we can’t report on that.
If you don’t mind shelling out for mid-range priced sheets that you might need to toss in 24 months, you shouldn’t have an issue. But if you think spending around $200 is a lot for a queen-sized sheet set and hope it’s very durable five or 10 years later, you might want to look into a different sheet set or company with a longer warranty.

Ease of care

As a sleep product tester, I appreciate clear instructions. Brooklinen suggests using their laundry products – Brooklinen’s Essential Detergent and Oxygen Bleach Alternative. I didn’t, but I did wash with an unscented, clear liquid detergent in cold water. Washing in cold or cool water helps preserve the lifespan of your bed sheets.
The sheet set can be tumble dried on low and, if you need to, ironed on a warm setting.

Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Hardcore Sheet Set: User reviews
The Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set is featured as a best seller on the website and has 4.5/5 stars from 23,000-plus reviews featured on Brooklinen.
The average customer rating is as follows:
- Brooklinen user rating: 4.5/5 stars (23,500+ reviews)
- Amazon user rating: 4/5 stars (1,001 reviews)
This is Brooklinen’s best-selling sheet set, and there are currently more than 23,500 reviews of the product on their site. Those who gave high star ratings and positive reviews generally praised their comfort, softness and luxurious feel, with some mentioning how the sheets kept them cool but were still cozy in colder weather. Others noted that the sheets get softer with washing, and several mentioned the attractive prints.
The reviewers who gave the Brooklinen sheet set lower stars and negative reviews had to do with how the color and fabric held up as well as the durability after about two years or more.
Other reviewers gave low-star reviews because they weren’t “buttery soft” as they may have been described on the site or ads. (We agree, we didn’t find them “buttery soft” or “silky”, but if you’re shopping for a great all-around sheet, we think they’re high-quality and comfortable.)
On Amazon, fans of the sheets again praised the comfort, luxurious feel and softness. Many also commented on the high quality and how well the sheets washed while maintaining softness, and that they would buy again or recommend to others. Of the users who gave a low rating, some mentioned they were not soft enough, while others felt the quality wasn’t good, particularly for the price, or had issues with rips and pilling within a few months.
Should you buy the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Hardcore Sheet Set?
Based on our tester’s experience, we found the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set to offer good quality sheets that would work well for couples, average sleepers who don’t sweat a lot at night, and those who are looking for a year-round option with plenty of color and pattern options — usually more than 20 varieties depending on season and availability.
The sheets fitted well on our king-sized mattress (12 inches), didn’t move around, and the fabric was also easy to care for. The cotton sheets may have gotten slightly softer in the three times we washed them and used them, but they’re supposed to soften more with time so if you want that buttery-soft feel in bed sheets as soon as you get them, these (in our opinion) aren’t the set for you.
The 365-night return period with free shipping is good, but if you do choose to return them within that time frame, be aware of the $9.95 return fee. The company will swap out the sheets for something else if they rip or have issues after the first year, but they don’t guarantee the quality beyond two years.
Buy it if…
✅ You love a sheet that feels weighty and substantial: With a 480-thread count sheet, you’re getting a high-quality fabric that feels lovely to sleep under with a luxury essence you’d get in a five-star hotel for a midrange price.
✅ You’re looking for a crowd-pleaser: These sheets feel slightly cool and still have that “ooh” vibe when you slip under them, making them a nice choice for a guest bedroom, or even couples who have different sleep preferences. They aren’t too heavy or too lightweight, too ‘sturdy,’ or too silky.
✅ You like variety: The sheet set comes in 20-plus color/pattern options, with some swapping in throughout the year as seasonal varieties.
✅ You want a hotel sheet feel for a mid-range price: The Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set felt nice, was liked by three testers who all slept well under it, and they felt thicker than some other sheets we tried. They aren’t budget sheets, but we thought the fabric seemed high-quality, the color/patterns looked great, and they’re a beautiful sheet set.

Don’t buy it if…
❌ If you sleep hot: Although the Luxe Sateen Core sheet set could be used year-round, it’s probably not ideal for hot sleepers since the fabric is a little thicker and doesn’t have temperature-regulating elements beyond the fact that cotton is naturally breathable material.
❌ You’re looking for budget sheets or long-lasting sheets: The Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set isn’t cheap and since they don’t guarantee the quality after two years, you may not want to shell out around $200 for a queen size sheet set (when they aren’t on sale) for bed sheets that might not hold up for five years or so.
❌ If you want a soft, buttery, or silky sheet: We didn’t feel these sheets had the silky, super soft feeling that some sleepers are looking for. If that’s what you want, we recommend checking out our review of the SIJO AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set.
