The first season of Daredevil: Born Again had its ups and downs, and you could certainly see the cracks. Whether or not you knew a creative overhaul had happened, Marvel seems to think this sophomore outing, and eventually its junior one, will fully win over folks unimpressed last time.
Producer Sana Amanat told Empire the approach to season two has basically been “‘We can do whatever we want.’ The landscape was open, and that was so liberating.” Case in point, the return of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, who briefly hung out with Matt in The Defenders. Without spoiling the reasons for her being here, Amanat said Jess popping in “is “very personal.”
“She brings edginess and lightness,” the producer continued. “Daredevil can be very dark and dramatic, and she cuts through the BS in a really interesting way.”
Whether or not she’s the only Netflix Defender making a return, Matt could use some superheroic help. The last season of Daredevil: Born Again ended with Fisk enacting martial law on New York and cracking down on costumed vigilantes, and season two will be even more about that as Matt and friends try to dethrone him.
Now that he has the city, Amanat teased that Fisk’s arc for the season will explore what that means for him now. “When you give a person whose thirst cannot be quenched his most valued treasure, is it enough? Or does he squeeze his treasure too hard?”
Daredevil: Born Again will return March 4, 2026 on Disney+, and already has a third season greenlit.
