    • Apps and games are appearing for the Galaxy XR headset
    • The device, aka Project Moohan, has been teased for a long time
    • We’ll finally get a grand unveiling on Tuesday, October 21

We know that the Samsung Galaxy XR headset (also known as Project Moohan) is officially being shown off to the world on October 21 – just two days away – and in preparation for the event, Android apps for it are already showing up on the Google Play Store.

As spotted by SammyGuru and @WorkaholicDavid, a variety of apps and games are now appearing with the “XR” label attached. That indicates they’re ready for the new Extended Reality experience that the upcoming headset is going to offer.

A lot of the titles look similar to those you might play on headsets such as the Meta Quest 3: there’s a virtual reality crazy golf experience, for example, as well as what seems to be a space shooter and an app for throwing up a virtual television screen.

Given that Extended Reality categorization, it seems as though the Galaxy XR headset is going to offer fully enclosed virtual experiences, as well as apps and games that combine digital overlays with the real world (again, like the Quest 3).

This headset has been a long time coming. Samsung and Google have now been teasing it for more than a year, and since then we’ve had some official updates, plenty of leaks and rumors, and even some actual hands-on time.

In terms of pricing, we’re expecting it to come in at a starting price of around $1,760 / £1,315 / AU$2,715, though that’s based on a conversion from a rumored price in South Korean won, and so may not be entirely accurate.

Earlier this year we got more information about the Android XR software, and it’s no surprise that Gemini and AI are going to play a central role here – enabling features such as live translation and quick responses to your queries on just about anything.

With some fairly decent specs anticipated, it could quickly become one of the best VR headsets on the market, though the current competition is tough. As soon as Samsung announces all the details, we will of course report them here.
