How to get Netflix for free

Netflix is easily one of the most well-known streaming services, especially as it’s home to popular original series such as Stranger Things and K-Pop Demon Hunters.

However, as there’s countless other subscriptions to splurge on, including Disney Plus and Hayu, your monthly outgoings can quickly add up. With this in mind, we’ve scoured the internet to find all the possible ways to get Netflix for free, or at least the subscription at a cheaper price.

To help loosen your purse strings even further, we’ve also listed how to get Apple TV Plus for free.

    Netflix doesn’t provide free trials

Annoyingly, Netflix has gotten a lot stricter in recent years and is no longer particularly generous with its free trials. In fact, Netflix categorically doesn’t offer anyone a free trial – even if you’ve never signed up to the service before.

I suppose this is down to the fact that it tends to release entire series of popular shows at once, which means you could theoretically get a free trial and binge-watch a new season. Even so, it’s still undoubtedly a shame and means there isn’t an easy way to watch Netflix for free.

Standard with ads plan is cheaper

While it may not be easy to nab a freebie, if you’re happy to sit through a few adverts, then you can get Netflix at a significantly cheaper price.

Although Netflix’s Standard plan will set you back £12.99 / $17.99 a month, or an eye-watering £18.99 / $24.99 a month for Premium, the Standard with Ads plan costs just £5.99 / $7.99 a month.

Essentially, Standard with Ads includes almost everything you’ll find in the Standard plan but, as its name suggests, throws in a few adverts both before and during streaming. Another key difference is that there are a few TV shows and movies that aren’t available to watch with the Standard with Ads plan.

Otherwise, the Standard with Ads plan is basically the same as Standard, and offers HD support, the ability to watch or download on two supported devices at once and the option to add an extra member to your plan.

Remember, Netflix has tightened its rules and no longer allows you to share your account with people outside of your household. So, in order to do this, you’ll need to spend up to an extra £5.99 / $8.99 a month to add a single additional member to your account.

    Look for bundles

Although this might not be a valid option for everyone, if you’re due a broadband and TV upgrade then it’s worth shopping around to find deals that include Netflix. At the time of writing, choosing certain Virgin Media, Sky and EE broadband and/or TV packages include access to at least Netflix’s Standard with Ads plan.

Plus, it’s always worth calling your current provider if you’re nearing the end of your contract to see what they can offer you.
