After debuting the One UI 8 Watch update alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 series and the second-gen Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung rolled it out to last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra in July. The update has since reached several other models in Samsung’s smartwatch lineup, including the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 6, and Galaxy Watch 5. However, the update has eluded Galaxy Watch FE users so far. Fortunately, there’s finally some good news.
According to SamMobile, Samsung has started rolling out the Wear OS 6 update for the Galaxy Watch FE in South Korea, and it could soon make its way to users in other regions. The update (firmware version R861XXU1CYK6) brings a significant redesign and several new features to the smartwatch, along with the October 2025 security patch.
Given that the Galaxy Watch FE is essentially a rebranded Galaxy Watch 4, the One UI 8 Watch update could subsequently land on the older model. However, considering the pace at which Samsung is rolling out the update, Galaxy Watch 4 users may have to wait a few more weeks to get it on their smartwatch.
Once it rolls out widely, users will be able to install it via the Galaxy Wearable app on their smartphone by navigating to the Watch software update section in the settings and selecting the Download and install option. After the update is downloaded, users can tap the Install now button to initiate installation. The Galaxy Watch FE will restart once the process is complete, so it’s recommended to keep it on its charging puck to ensure it has enough battery to finish the update without any issues.
One UI 8 Watch includes a host of new Samsung Health features, like Antioxidant Index, Bedtime Guidance, Running Coach, and Vascular Load. The update also introduced an improved tiles interface, the new Now Bar, and a few additional watch faces. It’s not immediately clear if all of these features will make it to Samsung’s affordable smartwatch.
