The first-generation Meta Ray-Bans deliver smart technology including open-ear speakers, video recording, voice assistance and more, in a sleek, stylish package with the classic Ray-Ban look. These smart glasses would make a great for streamers, content creators and overall tech enthusiasts, and right now they’re on sale for $224. That’s a savings of $75 off the standard list price, though pricing can vary by the style of lenses and frames you choose.

There is an updated version available now, the revamped Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, but the first generation is still absolutely worth considering. These smart glasses originally topped our list of the best smart glasses, before being knocked down by the updated model, and still hold a spot on the list as our top budget pick.

The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer first-generation smart glasses let you make hands-free calls, play music and capture photos and videos, wherever you go. Meta AI is also built into the glasses, so you can ask it questions throughout the day. Need directions while you’re walking around a new city, or want to ask a quick question without pulling out your phone? The AI smart assistant can help. It also includes real-time translation, which could be particularly useful if you’re planning any holiday travels or winter trips abroad.

CNET’s wearables expert Scott Stein noted that the first-generation glasses “do just about everything the newer second-gen models do,” but without the upgraded battery and video camera. If video recording isn’t your main priority, going with the first-gen model can save you quite a bit of money while providing largely the same features. As long as you’re OK with the shorter battery life.

The smart glasses are on sale now for $224, a notable discount on the $299 list price and an even heftier savings when compared to the $379 price of the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2.

    Why this deal matters

Despite not being the latest model in the Ray-Ban Meta lineup, these smart glasses still have plenty to offer. So much so that they still hold a spot on our list of the best smart glasses of 2025 as our favorite budget option. If you’re looking for feature-rich smart glasses at a more affordable price, this deal is worth a gander.
