Next year’s Samsung Galaxy S26 could finally feature Qi2 magnets. A new report claims the Korean tech giant is working on its own Samsung-branded Qi2 25W wireless charging dock for the S26 lineup.

The report comes from the German publication WinFuture, which claims Samsung is developing a charger that could potentially charge multiple devices, including Galaxy Watches and Galaxy Buds.

The rumored device is a 25W charging dock under the model number EP-P2900. Unfortunately, they did not have any images of the potential dock.

Samsung currently offers puck-like Qi2-compatible chargers that work with one of Samsung’s “Qi2 Ready” cases. However, the existing chargers top out at 15W, which can partially be blamed on the Qi2 Ready standard based on older Qi2 versions.

The newer Qi2.2 standard launched this year and allows for up to 50W, though most companies appear to be topping out around 25W.

Samsung rival Apple has had MagSafe charging since 2020, when it launched with the iPhone 12, and the Qi2 wireless standard was introduced in 2023. Earlier this year, Google adopted built-in Qi2 magnets in the Pixel 10 series.

It’s time for Samsung to finally put actual magnets in its flagship Galaxy phones. Yes, the S25 are “Qi2 Ready” with appropriate cases, but that has been a poor replacement for magnets in the phone itself.

A massive leak earlier this week revealed a ton of S26 series specs, including wired charging speeds up to 60W for the S26 Ultra, while the Plus and standard models got slightly slower speeds of 45W and 25W, respectively.

A separate rumor from November claimed the S26 Ultra will feature 25W wireless charging, while the vanilla and Plus models will come with 20W. None of this is direct confirmation that the S26 series is getting the upgrade, but each successive rumor lends credence to the idea that the phones will feature built-in magnets.

Despite delays and pivots due to the purported failure of the S26 Edge, we currently expect the S26 series to launch in January next year.
