Tablets make great gifts, and leading into the holiday season we’re seeing some decent price drops on some of our favorite models. No matter what you’re looking for, whether it’s a high-powered iPad to create world-class content, a budget tablet to marathon a show on your favorite streaming platform, or something in between, we’ve got a tablet deal that will save you money.

Our PC Labs experts evaluate tablets using a robust system of benchmarks and rubrics. Those reviewers look at everything you should consider before buying, including the power of the processor and the amount of onboard memory. Additional factors include weight, storage, camera quality, battery life, and connectivity. If you’re going to be using your tablet mostly for text, you might consider an ebook reader instead.

The main difference between tablets is the operating systems. Android, iPadOS, and Windows are the three main choices, and they all have strengths and weaknesses. If you’re looking for a tablet that does everything a laptop can, some models can also connect to a removable keyboard. You could also opt for a 2-in-1 device that combines a built-in keyboard with a touchscreen, thanks to a full 360-degree hinge. No matter what you’ve got in mind, there’s a tablet that can help you get it done. Here are the most epic tablet deals from our favorite brands in December.

    Apple iPad Deals

    iPad Air M3

    $599.99

We gave the latest iPad Air an Editors’ Choice award when we reviewed it, praising its luxurious feel, excellent connectivity options and upgraded processor for even more efficiency. This release barely changed a thing from 2023’s version, but why mess with success? For generations, the iPad Air has hit the sweet spot between performance and productivity, and we recommend it for students and creative types. A 6% price cut isn’t massive, but every little bit helps.

    iPad Pro M4

    Apple M4 CPU, 13-inch screen, 256GB storage

    $1,199.00
    at Amazon

    $1,299.00
    Save $100.00

It’s not the deepest discount in the world, but saving a cool $100 on the exceptional iPad Pro M4 makes this top-flight tablet a little more attainable. We gave the 2024 release an Editors’ Choice award in our review, with managing editor Eric Zeman declaring it “an impressive piece of hardware, with a new OLED display, a next-generation M4 processor, revised cameras, and a fresh selection of accessories.” If you need a tablet that packs the horsepower to run beefy creative apps smoothly, there’s no better choice on the market.

    Samsung Tablet Deals

    Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

Samsung Exynos 9611 CPU, 10.4-inch screen, 64GB storage

    $229.99
    at Amazon

    $329.99

For a lightweight but capable creativity tablet, you’re going to have a tough time beating the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite at a $100 discount. In our review, we gave this slate props for its solid build quality, included S Pen stylus and impressive speakers. While the 2,000-by-1,200-pixel TFT LCD screen with 224 pixels per inch doesn’t directly compete with pricier AMOLED displays, it’s still bright and colorful enough for most environments, and performance is optimized for fast and responsive touchscreen input.

    Samsung Galaxy Tab A7

For a more budget-minded alternative, you can’t beat a juicy 35% discount on the capable Galaxy Tab A7+. This budget tablet is a lightweight slate with a crisp 10.4-inch screen and Dolby Atmos speakers, making it one of the best ways to binge Netflix on the go. With a capable Snapdragon processor, it’s designed for everyday entertainment and light gaming, not necessarily high-end creative work, but if you just want to space out on the couch surfing the Web, reading e-books or watching shows, it’s an unbeatable pick at this price.

    Google Tablet Deals

    Google Pixel Tablet

10.9″ display, Google Tensor G2 CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage

    $324.99
    at Amazon

    $399.00
    Save $74.01

Google’s second entry into the tablet market is a very capable Android unit with some nice features. You can read our full review for all the details, but the basics are simple: it’s great for streaming media, handles multitasking better than most with a sizable 8GB of RAM, and doubles as a Nest smart display. The 10.95-inch LCD screen has 24-bit color support, and 500 nits peak brightness make it usable even in direct sunlight. The two 8MP cameras are solid, and the triple-microphone array works well for video chatting. You can get a 19% discount right now.

Straddling the line between a tablet and a laptop, Microsoft’s Surface Pro convertible is interesting enough to be worth your time, especially if you’re most used to the Windows ecosystem. The full version of Windows 11 that it runs is powerful and stable, and in our review we said that this portable was sleek and satisfying, with some of the best battery life we’ve seen out of a Surface tablet yet, as well as zippy Copilot AI performance and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Note that this offer does not include the Flex Pro wireless keyboard, but chopping 38% off retail gives you plenty of cash left over to pick one up if you need it.

    Lenovo Tablet Deals

    Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus

    12.7-inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB storage

We were deeply impressed by the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus in our review, with mobile expert Iyaz Akhtar saying it stood out thanks to its “gorgeous screen, excellent speakers, helpful software, and included keyboard and stylus.” This is a very versatile slate, with a potent processor, generous RAM outlay, and responsive touch controls. All that power does come at a cost in terms of battery life, but as long as you stay close to a charger you should be fine. A 38% discount on the top Android tablet Lenovo makes is a fantastic offer.

    FAQ

How Much Money Should You Spend on a Tablet?

The answer to this, of course, depends on what you’re planning to use it for. In our guide to the best tablets, we feature models that range from $74.99 to over $1,000. If all you’re looking for is a lightweight portable for media consumption and gaming, you can get a capable Android tablet for a few hundred bucks. For more resource-intensive content creation and other needs, expect to spend a little bit more. Evaluate what your needs are before you start shopping, and you’ll be able to find the right slate for you. Most people will find they can get a powerful device between $400 and $600.

What Is the Best Time of Year to Buy a Tablet?

Shopping for tech can be a little irksome because prices rise and fall based on chip supply, market demand, and hundreds of other factors. Tablet prices generally remain pretty stable, but if you’re looking to save, Black Friday is probably your best bet. The biggest shopping holiday of the year happens the day after Thanksgiving. It typically extends into the weekend, when you’re guaranteed to see record-low prices on tablets from Apple, Amazon, Samsung, Google, and more.

What Time of the Year is the Cheapest to Buy an iPad?

According to our extensive iPad buying guide, there are several hot dates for purchasing an Apple tablet. One of the best times is after a new iPad model is released. In 2025, we saw the release of the new iPad and iPad Air in March, which followed the iPad mini last October. Other good times to find iPad deals include Black Friday, Amazon’s twice-yearly Prime Day sales, and the back-to-school season.

What Are the Top Tablet Discounts Available During Amazon Prime Day or Cyber Week?

Retailers often discount Apple iPads during seasonal sales. For example, Amazon and Best Buy might each take $100 off the main iPad models. Similarly, Amazon is prone to offering heavy discounts on its own Kindle and Fire products during Prime Day and Cyber Week.

What’s the Best Tablet Under $500?

You don’t have to spend a fortune to get a great tablet computing experience. In our rundown of the best cheap tablets, we spotlight numerous Android and Apple devices that are great bargains. Our top choice for affordable tablets is the Amazon Fire HD 10, which is great for media streaming, casual gaming, and web surfing. Read our review here. For Apple tablets, the 11th-generation iPad costs $349 and performs exceptionally well. You can read our review of that model here.

Are There Any Bundle Deals That Include Tablet Accessories?

The answer to this depends on the manufacturer. Some tablets ship with a stylus in the box. These include devices like e-readers meant for note-taking and Android slates from Lenovo and Samsung. Samsung sometimes bundles its keyboard accessories with its tablets, but not consistently. Apple does not bundle the Apple Pencil or Magic Keyboard with its iPad. It would be up to an individual retailer to bundle Apple products together.
