While part of me isn’t ready to accept that 2025 is coming to an end, this time of year has always been my favorite. Not because of the holidays or the cozy weather, but because of the end-of-year recaps.
While Spotify Wrapped practically started this tradition for music lovers, other platforms have jumped on board. Though I’m surprised I’m writing this in 2025, YouTube has finally joined the trend and dropped its first-ever year-end recap.
YouTube Recap 2025 is finally here
As announced via a post on YouTube’s official blog, YouTube finally decided to listen to the masses and dropped the very first YouTube Recap. It’s available for users in North America already and will roll out to the rest of the world this week. You can find the Recap right on the homepage when you open YouTube, or under the You tab. YouTube’s Recap is accessible on both mobile devices and desktop.
As one might expect, YouTube Recap digs into your watch history for the year and highlights your “interests, deep dives, and moments you explored this year.” The Recap will include a set of up to 12 different “cards,” which will showcase your top videos, favorite channels, trending topics you engaged with, top interests, the number of channels you watched this year, and other personalized insights that make your year in video uniquely yours.

Now, YouTube Recap is separate from YouTube Music Recap 2025, and the latter will still be available separately within the YouTube Music app. However, the brand-new YouTube Recap will also include some stats related to your listening history. For instance, the company mentions that you’ll see Top Artists and Songs of the Year as part of the Recap.
Instead of just throwing numbers at you, YouTube Recap adds a fun twist with the Recap Personality feature. Based on your viewing habits, it assigns you a personality type like The Skill Builder, The Sunshiner, The Trailblazer, etc. YouTube notes that the most common personalities they saw were the Sunshiner, the Wonder Seeker, and the Connector.

On the other hand, the most “elusive and rare personas” ended up being the Philosopher and the Dreamer. Along with the card mentioning which personality you are, it also includes a description of the type of content you’re drawn to, along with which personality type you’re most similar to.
While I’m still surprised it took YouTube this long to roll out a year-end recap, better late than never, right? Apple and Amazon Music have both also dropped their end-of-year recaps, so there’s plenty of nostalgia to go around as we look back on 2025’s favorite tunes, videos, and trends!
