Chloe Zhao still wants to make an Eternals sequel. Joe Hill is turning even more of his work into new live-action projects. Plus, the Duffer brothers tease the Stranger Things spinoff. Spoilers, assemble!
Goblin
Deadline reports Kenneth Branagh will lend his voice to the titular monster in Goblin, director David Mikalson’s “raunchy comedy” at A24 described as “Ted meets ET.”
Untitled Joe Hill Project/King Sorrow
During a recent interview with Mashable, Joe Hill revealed he’s now developing a currently unpublished novella of his own as a film. Hill also revealed a TV series based on his recent novel, King Sorrow, is also in development.
Untitled Dein Fleischer Camp Project
Deadline also has word that TriStar Pictures has secured the rights to a currently untitled “supernatural romance pitch from Lilo & Stitch director, Dean Fleischer Camp.”
MCU
In conversation with Digital Spy, Hugh Jackman confirmed he’s taken a “never say never again” approach to playing Wolverine.
I’m never saying ‘never’ ever again. I did mean it until the day I changed my mind. I did mean it for quite a few years. I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!
The Mummy 4
Speaking with APNews, Brendan Fraser stated he’s wanted to make this upcoming fourth Mummy film for 20 years.
The one I wanted to make was never made. NBC had the rights to broadcast the Olympics that year. So they put two together and we went to China [for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor]. Working in Shanghai, an incredible experience. I’m proud of the third one because I think it’s a good standalone movie. We picked up and did what we do with a different crew on deck and gave it our best shot. But the one I wanted to make is forthcoming. And I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes it was a faint telegraph. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want.
The Eternals 2
Elsewhere, Chloé Zhao confirmed to Screen Rant she’s still interested in making a sequel to The Eternals in which Arishem returns to Earth to cast judgement on humankind.
I would love that! Look, you’re right, and you understood it. It’s about a pantheon of gods discussing the nature of humanity, and ultimately their judgment. Which is what Arishem said, “I’ll be back for judgment.” And the reason why those brief plays existed is for humanity to see how the gods are seeing us, so we could evaluate how we were as a part of this cycle of the universe. Are we doing a good job? Are we kind to each other? Are we getting to know ourselves well enough? It’s there for a reason, this kind of myth, and these [MCU] films are a modern version of that to me. So, I would love to bring them back and have more discussion about the world we live in. I’m really proud of it.

Untitled Stranger Things Spinoff
In a recent interview with Deadline, Matt Duffer stated he and his brother Ross are “extremely excited” about the mysterious live-action Stranger Things spinoff series.
We are moving forward with it. Netflix, they finally know what it is. We held it. They were so frustrated. We just would not tell them. Now everybody at Netflix knows. They’re very excited behind it there. I’m really excited about the team we’ve assembled that I can’t talk about without potentially getting into trouble, but we’ll put out more information soon. We’re trying to get it to go pretty quickly. So hopefully it’s gonna happen soon. The spinoff idea is something that Ross and I came up with that we’re extremely excited about. It’s quite different, though, than Stranger Things. So I think the key is that it’s coming from a place of passion, whether it’s from us or from somebody else. It’s not an assignment. It’s not forced like that. You’ve just seen that too many times. The market, it’s diminishing returns at a certain point. You want it to feel special when it comes out. I want, if something’s coming out with a Stranger Things title on it, it’s good, it’s quality. So Ross and I are going to remain very, very involved, even though we’re going to be at Paramount. In fact, we’re busy working on the spinoff idea right now. We want to be intentional and very careful in terms of how we expand, in that we’re not doing anything for the sake of doing it, for the sake of putting more Stranger Things out into the world. It has to be something that we’re extremely excited about.
