Samsung is apparently using a larger front-facing camera on the Galaxy S26 Ultra versus the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with Ice complaining that it’s not the same as every other Chinese flagship and that Samsung is cutting corners.

However, in a later tweet, Ice confirmed that the reason for the larger hole punch cutout here is that the front-camera’s field-of-view has been increased to 85 degrees, from 80 degrees on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. That also means that the FOV is the same size as the ultrawide on Galaxy S25 Ultra. Allowing you to get more people in the frame of the shot.

Unfortunately, the sensor is not going to be higher quality or have a higher megapixel count. The only change is “the equivalent focal length”, according to Ice.

Galaxy S26 Ultra specs will remain mostly the same

Unfortunately, the specs of the Galaxy S26 Ultra are expected to remain mostly the same versus the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Even down to the dimensions and weight. It’ll sport a 6.9-inch QHD+ display again, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 (depending on region), as well as up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The battery will also remain the same at 5,000mAh capacity, once again. It seems like Samsung doesn’t want to move to a dual-battery setup like OnePlus, to allow for a larger battery in its devices. It is, however, getting faster USB-C charging at 60W. This should actually be a pretty big upgrade in terms of charging time, since it will be above 45W for far longer than it was on Galaxy S25 Ultra, where it only reached 45W for a few seconds, and mostly stayed at 30W or slower.

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to be released in early March, with Unpacked taking place on February 25. That would be later than usual for Samsung, which is a bit surprising, but with all of the flip-flopping we’ve seen lately, it’s not that surprising.
