Laptops expert Matthew Buzzi reviewed a 16-inch Alienware Area-51 laptop with similar specs and said, “This laptop’s performance aligns with other top-end machines, even outperforming some better-equipped laptops, ensuring a smooth gaming experience at high resolution.” Its sky-high performance does come with some drawbacks: namely, short battery life, and the 9.56 pounds of bulk created by premium aluminum material and the screen size. That 18-inch display has a WQXGA resolution and a rapid 300Hz refresh rate, which will be a visual treat across video game genres when combined with G-Sync compatibility.
It’s not all fun and games, either: the Area-51 performed handsomely in productivity and content creation tests as well. If you’re looking for a gaming battlestation capable of playing any title under the sun, you’ve found it. Just bear in mind, “We don’t recommend the Alienware 16 Area-51 if you plan to use it on the go and off the charger often, but it excels as a desktop-replacement gaming rig.” You can get it on sale now for $650 off retail.
