France and South Africa take their first real step into the 2025 Autumn Internationals with a rematch of their thrilling quarter-final clash from the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The French are still a team wounded by that day and will be desperate to exact revenge for their narrow defeat on home soil just two years ago. It was a tournament that had seemed destined for Les Bleus to win, but Siya Kolisi’s men spoiled the party with a dramatic one-point victory. South Africa went on to lift the World Cup that year, and confidence remains sky-high after back-to-back Rugby Championship titles.
The magnificent Cheslin Kolbe and Kurt-Lee Arendse bring their trademark electric footwork on the wings, while the Springbok pack is as formidable as ever. Kolisi also marks his 100th appearance for a nation to which he has given his all.
For France, star scrum-half Antoine Dupont will be absent, but few replacements come better than Nolann Le Garrec. The La Rochelle No. 9 may never reach the global superstar status of Dupont, yet at just 23 he has already earned 13 caps and scored 40 points for his country. Elsewhere, France’s dazzling backs will be eager to light up Paris once again, with Louis Bielle-Biarrey looking to extend his remarkable try-scoring record.
