Pornhub is taking a page from TikTok and offering its own vertical video feed of adult content.

Pornhub’s “Shorties” are designed to address how TikTok and its vertical scrolling feed have changed how consumers watch videos.

“As viewing behaviors evolve, Pornhub is evolving with them,” says Pornhub VP Alex Kekesi. “With most of our online traffic coming from mobile, Shorties makes it easier than ever for fans and creators to connect through a seamless, dynamic experience.”

Shorties promises to be smart enough to recommend porn videos that users will like as they watch. Unlike TikTok, though, Pornhub doesn’t have an Android or iOS app since both Google and Apple have strict policies against circulating porn-related apps on their mobile stores. So instead, the Shorties feature has been baked inside the Pornhub website, for both desktop and mobile, as its own special section (NSFW).

Another key difference is that Shorties features “no time limits” on video uploads. TikTok generally focuses more on short clips.

“Fans can browse trending videos and discover rising stars, all from the Pornhub main menu or specialty carousels featured on the homepage and individual model profiles. Shorties users can also personalize their viewing experience and access a dedicated gay-content feed, available on Pornhub Gay,” the company says.

The Shorties feature was previously in beta. Mashable notes that the main challenge for Pornhub is that adult video content has always been filmed in horizontal landscape mode. So with Shorties, Pornhub has been recruiting adult content creators to develop videos specifically for vertical viewing. In addition, Pornhub itself reported that vertical videos were especially popular among users ages 18 to 24.

It’s not the first time a porn-focused TikTok-style feed has popped up. Back in 2020, Pornhub’s sister site YouPorn also debuted a never-ending scrolling feed, but it looks like it was quietly retired. So we’ll have to see if Shorties fares any better.

    Experience

I’ve been a journalist for over 15 years. I got my start as a schools and cities reporter in Kansas City and joined PCMag in 2017, where I cover satellite internet services, cybersecurity, PC hardware, and more. I’m currently based in San Francisco, but previously spent over five years in China, covering the country’s technology sector.

Since 2020, I’ve covered the launch and explosive growth of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service, writing 600+ stories on availability and feature launches, but also the regulatory battles over the expansion of satellite constellations, fights with rival providers like AST SpaceMobile and Amazon, and the effort to expand into satellite-based mobile service. I’ve combed through FCC filings for the latest news and driven to remote corners of California to test Starlink’s cellular service.

I also cover cyber threats, from ransomware gangs to the emergence of AI-based malware. Earlier this year, the FTC forced Avast to pay consumers $16.5 million for secretly harvesting and selling their personal information to third-party clients, as revealed in my joint investigation with Motherboard.

I also cover the PC graphics card market. Pandemic-era shortages led me to camp out in front of a Best Buy to get an RTX 3000. I’m now following how President Trump’s tariffs will affect the industry. I’m always eager to learn more, so please jump in the comments with feedback and send me tips.
