Apple recently boosted the iPad Pro with a cutting-edge M5 chip. Like its predecessor, the 11-inch model starts at $999, while the 13-inch model starts at $1,299. You can order yours now at Apple. Plus, you can save up to $695 when you trade in your old iPad at Apple. You’ll also save 3% if you make the purchase using your Apple Card.*

If you want to get one at Amazon, you’re not so lucky. Most of the stock at Amazon is sold out, leaving only the Nano-Textured Glass screen options at 1 or 2TB, which starts at $1,649.

Save up to $695 with trade-in

You can pick up the 11-inch M3 iPad Air for $40 off right now at Amazon. While there are no big direct deals on the M3 iPad Air at Apple, it does offer trade-in savings, providing up to $695 in exchange for a previous generation iPad if you shop from the company’s website. You’ll also get 3% cash back if you use your Apple Card* to make a purchase.

Featuring a next-gen M4 chip and Apple Intelligence support, the M4 iPad Pro is one of the most advanced tablets on the market. The tablet has an 11-inch Ultra Retina XDR display, Wi-Fi 6E support, a 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

You’ll find select configurations on sale for $100 off at Best Buy, where you can save even more with an eligible trade-in. At Amazon, the 256GB model with Wi-Fi and cellular starts at $1,082, which saves you $117.

    iPad Mini (A17 Pro): $488

Apple’s smallest iPad has an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display, Wi-Fi 6E and an all-day battery. It also comes in four pastel colors and has storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.

PC Richard & Son is offering $11 off the price, bringing it down to $488 in the 128GB space gray, starlight or purple. Apple is offering up to $695 for trade-in, although to get that higher return, you’d have to trade in something like the iPad Pro.

Apple recently released a new flagship A16 iPad, which means this 10th-generation model is no longer the latest. But it’s a solid tablet and a serious bargain now that you can grab it on sale. It features a 10.9-inch display, USB-C charging and an A14 Bionic chip. It’s an excellent choice and an affordable option if you only need a tablet for basics like scrolling social media, streaming shows and web browsing.

The 256GB variant is $100 off, bringing it down to $349. The 64GB model is $107 off, which makes it $242, if you can catch it in stock.

This 11-inch Apple iPad A16 is now $50 off, but these prices often change at a moment’s notice. Its LED screen offers 2,360×1,640-pixel resolution, and its battery lasts up to 10 hours, so you can work and study without losing power.

    iPad Mini (7th gen): $499

You can grab the 128GB SSD iPad Mini (7th gen) for $499 at B&H Photo right now. Though there’s no direct discount, you can save if you have an eligible device to trade in.

What is the best iPad deal right now?

Although the 10th-gen iPad is not the latest model, it still has plenty to offer, especially for those on a tight budget. Right now, you can get the 256GB model for $349 at Walmart, which is a sizeable $100 discount.

How we choose iPad deals at CNET

CNET’s dedicated writers have years of experience scouting the best deals on top tech, including bargains on Apple devices. Our combined expertise helps us discern which standout deals are truly a good bargain by evaluating the model, year, specs, discount and our reviewer’s thoughts for each model. We also ensure all deals featured on this list are sourced from a trustworthy retailer, so you never have to wonder if a bargain is too good to be true.

*All information about the Apple Card credit card has been collected independently by CNET and has not been reviewed by the issuer.

Discounts on Apple tablets pop up throughout the year, but they’re typically shortlived. If you’re looking for more consistent savings, you’ll want to wait for a major shopping event. The best bargains normally happen during Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day.

Apple rarely offers discounts on its devices, so you’ll have to look elsewhere if you’re hoping to pick up an iPad on sale. Major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart are good places to start, especially during major shopping events. It’s also worth seeing what deals are available at smaller online retailers like Adorama, B&H Photo and Newegg, as they may be offering some under-the-radar bargains that aren’t being matched at larger competitors.

Apple makes four versions of the iPad, which vary in price, display quality and chip performance. All of them feature iPadOS similarly, and all the current-gen models charge via USB-C. The entry-level flagship iPad is affordable and versatile but lacks the powerful M-series chips found on the Air and Pro models, which are faster and support a few pro-level Apple apps. The latest Pro iPads also feature step-up OLED displays with better brightness, contrast and refresh rates, and they are a bit thinner and lighter. It’s also worth noting that different iPads are compatible with different versions of the Apple Pencil stylus.
