Once upon a time, buying a TV with Roku built right in meant settling for a TV whose performance wasn’t quite praiseworthy. Recently, that changed with the debut of the Roku Pro Series, a set that combines the friendly, easy-to-use nature of Roku software with a bright, colorful picture.

The success of this TV makes it one worth tracking as we inch closer to Black Friday and the holiday shopping season. Right now, the 65-inch Pro Series is just $598 at Amazon in an limited-time, pre-Black Friday deal from Amazon.

The 2024 Roku Pro Series takes a different approach than the ultra-cheap Roku TVs you might have encountered in years past. As the name implies, the Pro Series sets itself apart with better display technology than garden-variety LED TVs. This makes it an excellent choice for Black Friday shoppers looking to spend a little more on picture quality.

The Roku Pro Series blends quantum dot-color with Mini-LED backlighting, the latter of which gives it an edge when it comes to brightness and overall contrast. According to our testing, the Pro Series delivers over 1,200 nits of highlight brightness in HDR. This is plenty bright for daytime viewing, and with the lights off, the Pro Series will look even more cinematic.

If you’ve ever used a Roku streaming device before, you probably understand the appeal. The bold, clean interface is easy to navigate and the Roku library of downloadable apps is robust.

The TV’s built-in Roku features are obviously the main attraction here, but the Pro Series is also a pretty solid gaming companion, too. It arrives with two HDMI 2.1-compatible inputs that support 4K gaming up to 120Hz. That’s the maximum 4K spec for current-generation consoles.

For people who are looking to save as much money as possible on a new TV this holiday shopping season, there are plenty of more-affordable options that don’t deliver the sort of performance you’ll get out of the Roku Pro Series. That said, if you don’t mind spending a little bit more on a downright impressive-looking upgrade, the Roku Pro Series is a quality candidate.
