The audio brand has updated its beloved over-ear headphones with refined acoustics, modern connectivity, and a nod to sustainability
Meze Audio is celebrating ten years of the 99 Classics with a new second-generation model. They’ve kept the spirit of its original model while adding modern updates with the refreshed second-generation model.
The 99 Classics, first launched in 2015, were known for their warm sound and handcrafted wooden design. The updated model comes with ten upgrades that push forward both sound and comfort.
The tuning’s been tweaked for a cleaner, more neutral sound, while the drivers are better matched, so stereo imaging feels spot on. The ear cups are larger, which means more comfort and tighter bass control.
Meze also introduced an upgraded acoustic seal, redesigned the baffle, and shaped the clip-in ear pads differently – all to give you a more reliable listening experience.

Other, more thoughtful touches include the enlarged input socket so you can use a wider range of cables. The cable itself is tougher, thanks to Kevlar reinforcement.
Now, they’re including a compact USB-C DAC/AMP, so you can plug these right into newer devices that ditched the headphone jack. For anyone who listens on the go, that’s a real plus.
Visually, the 99 Classics haven’t lost their charm. The walnut wood ear cups, gold zinc accents, and vegan leather headband still scream Meze. Every part is replaceable, so these headphones are built to last. Even the packaging got an update. Now, it’s recyclable, fitting right in with Meze’s push for sustainability.
The new 99 Classics are now available, selling for $349/€349 through Mezze’s website and select retailers around the world.
