Not long after the release of the Ricoh GR IV camera, Ricoh has announced its adding two new additions to the lineup: the GR IV Monochrome and GR IV HDF.

The Monochromatic camera is designed for black and white photography, while the HDF variant brings Ricoh’s proprietary Highlight Diffusion Filter tech to its compact camera range.

The Ricoh GR IV Monochrome shares many of the GR IV’s same features like a 25.7MP resolution, a 28mm lens, three-inch touchscreen LCD monitor and five-axis image stabilisation, except it has a new monochrome CMOS sensor and specialised image control settings.

It’s the company’s first black and white camera, so you can expect the same level of tonal richness that you usually only get from high-end cameras like the Leica Q2 Monochrom. As such, we know it’ll set you back at least $1,500 – although Ricoh hasn’t announced the official pricing yet.

The Ricoh GR IV HDF replaces the old GR III HDF and should offer all the same features and specifications of the GR IV, but without the built in neural density filter. The HDF filter will give your photos a soft glow at the press of a button.

The GR IV HDF lands in winter 2025, with the Monochrome following sometime in spring 2026.
