Byte-Sized Brief
- ChatGPT Atlas is a new browser with built-in AI.
- Agent mode lets ChatGPT act on websites for you.
- Launches worldwide today on macOS for all users.
OpenAI just launched ChatGPT Atlas, a web browser with the popular chatbot built right in. You can open a sidebar next to any website to summarize content, compare items, or pull insights from whatever is on the screen. Instead of hopping between tabs or copying text into ChatGPT, everything happens right where you’re working. Atlas also remembers what you’ve been browsing so that it can bring that context back later, but only if you want it to; privacy controls let you pause or turn off memory at any time.
Agent mode is one of the browser’s biggest additions that lets ChatGPT actually do things on the web for you, like research and even shop. Agent mode is available in preview to Plus, Pro, and Business subscribers. ChatGPT Atlas is rolling out globally on macOS for Free, Plus, Pro, and Go accounts, with versions for Windows, iOS, and Android in the works.
The Bottom Line
ChatGPT Atlas combines browsing and AI in one tool. It lets you search, chat, and even interact with the web through ChatGPT without leaving the page. It’s available now on macOS for all ChatGPT users.
