There’s a chill in the air, and it’s not just the weather — it’s the arrival of new TV shows premiering on Netflix, HBO Max and other streaming services, as well as cable and broadcast channels.

This week, chilling thrills rule the screen, with Stephen King’s universe expanding in “It: Welcome to Derry,” while “Harlan Coben’s Lazarus” promises another twisty, high-stakes mystery. If you prefer romantic sparks over supernatural scares, “Nobody Wants This” season 2 brings back Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as they navigate love, faith, and everything that comes after coupling up. Here’s our guide on the top new TV shows to check out this week.

    ‘Harlan Coben’s Lazarus’ (Prime Video)

    Watch On

Craving a fresh Harlan Coben thriller? Amazon has one teed up, and it’s a tangled, eerie ride you won’t want to miss. Sam Claflin stars as Joel “Laz” Lazarus, a forensic psychologist dragged back into his family’s dark past after his father’s suspicious suicide.

Strange visions, cold-case murders and decades-old family secrets collide as Laz unravels mysteries both personal and deadly. With Bill Nighy as his late father and Alexandra Roach in a pivotal role, this limited series promises a twisty ride that’s equal parts brain-teaser and spine-tingler.

All 6 episodes premiere Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 3 a.m. ET on Prime Video

‘Nobody Wants This’ season 2 (Netflix)

Netflix’s hit rom-com returns, and it turns out: everybody actually wants this. After an against-all-odds reconciliation, agnostic sex podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and charming rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) are diving heart-first into coupledom. But merging their worlds proves trickier than falling in love, as religion, family and real life start testing their fairy tale.

Season 2 digs into the messy, funny and painfully relatable work of staying together. Creator Erin Foster expands the universe (and the chaos) through new faces played by Miles Fowler, Arian Moayed, Alex Karpovsky and Leighton Meester (Brody’s real-life wife).

All 10 episodes premiere Thursday, Oct. 23 at 3 a.m. ET on Netflix

‘Mayor of Kingstown’ season 4 (Paramount Plus)

Jeremy Renner is back as Mike McLusky, and his fiefdom of Kingstown is more combustible than ever. Season 4 throws new players into the power vacuum left by the Russians, igniting a gang war that could swallow the town whole. Edie Falco’s no-nonsense warden, Laura Benanti’s determined correctional officer and Lennie James’ smooth but deadly gangster raise the stakes.

As old wounds reopen and loyalties are tested, Mike has no choice but to stand his ground. In Kingstown, the line between law and crime is thin, and Mike is the only man keeping it from snapping.

Episode 1 premieres Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3 a.m. ET on Paramount Plus

‘Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order’ (AMC)

    Watch On

In the third series set in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, law grad Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton) discovers his life has been under surveillance by a secretive agency that monitors witches, vampires and other supernatural forces. Under the guidance of the steely Helen (Elizabeth McGovern) and the beguiling Olive (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Guy is plunged into a world where immortal politics collide with mortal danger.

Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk return from “Interview With the Vampire,” while William Fichtner, Celine Buckens and Jason Schwartzman add layers of intrigue, ambition and menace in this supernatural spy thriller.

Episode 1 premieres Sunday, Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC (via Sling, Fubo or YouTube TV) or AMC Plus

    ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ (HBO)

    Watch On

Think you’ve seen the last of Pennywise? Think again. This prequel series drags viewers back to Stephen King’s creepiest corner of Maine, this time to 1962, decades before the Losers Club ever faced their fears. When a local boy vanishes, a new family learns just how deep Derry’s darkness runs.

Bill Skarsgård slips once more into his terrifying grin, while Andy and Barbara Muschietti expand their film universe into a nine-part nightmare of lore, loss and lurking evil. Warning: You may need to watch through your fingers.

Episode 1 premieres Sunday, Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max
