The holidays are a time for rewatching festive favorites from “Home Alone” to “Die Hard,” but there should always be room for a few potential future classics in your seasonal movie marathons. And that’s why every year, plenty of new Christmas movies are released, all hoping to become enduring picks.

In 2025, the likes of Netflix, Prime Video and Disney Plus are offering viewers new Christmas flicks to enjoy, from a festive-themed heist-comedy to a road trip adventure starring the Jonas Brothers. There’s even a new, and very violent, slasher heading to theaters, which sees a psychopath in a Santa suit go on a bloody rampage (yes, that’s a real Christmas movie this year).

Below, I’ve compiled a list of the new Christmas movies for 2025 that are going straight into my watchlist, and who knows, perhaps a couple of them will even become staples of my seasonal streaming for years to come.

    Best picks for you

‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie’ (Disney Plus)

The Jonas Brothers make their homecoming to Disney in this holiday-themed musical comedy, and it might just be one of 2025’s most pleasant surprises. What makes “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” such a seasonal delight is that it’s wonderfully self-aware, full of charming little gags that poke fun at the band’s history and even personal lives. Narratively, it takes clear cues from “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” which is certainly no bad thing, and it sees the Jonas Brothers, Kevin, Joe and Nick, play heightened versions of themselves.

After finishing off a tour in London, the Jonas Brothers face a race against time to get back to New York to spend Christmas with their families. What should be a simple flight becomes a comedic odyssey as they face all sorts of hurdles, including a dangerous Uber driver, a train going to the wrong destination, and even a pack of hungry wolves. It’s all pretty silly, and the new original songs are vanilla, but fans of the JoBros will totally love it.

‘The Family Plan 2’ (Apple TV)

    Watch On

The Morgan family is back in this Apple TV sequel, and this time they’re taking a European trip for the holidays. It should be the perfect family-bonding experience as they enjoy picturesque sights such as London in the snow and the stunning landmarks of Paris, but when an old enemy from Dan Morgan’s (Mark Wahlberg) past emerges from the shadows, the former covert assassin, now dedicated family man, has to slip back into his old ways.

The original cast all return, including Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby, and this time Kit Harington is joining the mix as the villainous Aidan. “The Family Plan 2” looks like a suitable pick for viewers seeking a new Christmas movie in 2025 that adds a dose of action to the usual holiday tropes. Still, even when the bullets start flying, the overall message about the importance of family feels appropriate for the season.

    ‘Oh. What. Fun.’ (Prime Video)

    Watch On

Prime Video’s new Christmas comedy comes from “The Idea of You” director Michael Showalter. “Oh. What. Fun.” appears to be a slightly more snarky spin on the seasonal comedy. It has all the usual trademarks of the genre, with a large household coming together for the holidays, but the Clauster clan is certainly not a perfect family. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Danielle Brooks, Dominic Sessa and Denis Leary, “Oh. What. Fun” looks like a snappy comedy that’s more sarcastic than snowy.

    Don’t miss these

Clarie Clauster (Pfeiffer) is the glue that holds her chaotic family together. Every year, she goes all out to deck the halls and ensure the season runs smoothly. However, when her grown-up kids and distracted husband (Leary) take her hard work for granted and are more consumed by their own personal drama than quality family time, she decides to take a break from running the show and heads off on a festive adventure of her own.

Watch “Oh. What. Fun” on Prime Video from December 3

    ‘Jingle Bell Heist’ (Netflix)

    Watch On

Netflix’s holiday movie slate for 2025 is crammed with the usual assortment of rom-coms about finding love in a wintry town over the holidays, but “Jingle Bell Heist” looks to offer something at least a little refreshing. It’s still a romantic comedy in the broad strokes, but with the addition of a heist component, it’s a Christmas movie that doubles as a crime caper.

Sophia (Olivia Holt) and Nick (Connor Swindells) are down-on-their-luck workers who concoct a plan to rob a swanky London department store on Christmas Eve. Pulling off this job will require plenty of quick thinking, and along the way, the unlikely pair of criminals might just fall in love. Last year, Netflix enjoyed a major hit with holiday action-thriller “Carry On,” and with “Jingle Bell Heist” primed to add some excitement to the usual seasonal formula, it could be another big success story for the streaming service.

Watch “Jingle Bell Heist” on Netflix from November 26

    ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ (Theatrical)

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 🎅🏼🪓🩸 | Official Trailer | In Theaters December 12 – YouTube

    Watch On

“Silent Night, Deadly Night” is a very different type of Christmas movie. A remake of a 1984 cult classic slasher flick of the same name, in this blood-soaked horror, the man in the red suit isn’t spreading holiday cheer, but instead trades in fear. It’s certainly not going to be a movie you’ll want to watch with the whole family, but if you’re craving some seasonal scares and plenty of bloody mayhem, then you’ll want to venture to your local multiplex.

In “Silent Night, Deadly Night,” Billy (Rohan Campbell) is traumatized as a child when he witnesses his parents being murdered at the hands of Santa Claus. Now a grown-up, he dons the iconic red outfit to carry out his own campaign of carnage every Christmas. However, when he meets a potential love interest (Ruby Modine), he is forced to confront his internal darkness and decide whether he wants to continue being naughty or try being nice.

Watch “Silent Night, Deadly Night” in theaters from December 12
