Whether you’ve already found your true love or are still searching for “the one,” a good romantic movie can sweep you away and make life feel just as magical as the movies promise. And when those stories are adapted from already beloved books? Even better.

From teen rom-coms to sweeping Westerns, Netflix has plenty of book-to-screen romances to fit every kind of dreamer. Even if you find yourself whispering (or shouting) “the book was better!”, these adaptations charm with their whimsy, chemistry and cinematic flair.

Written and directed by Vicky Wight and based on Katherine Center’s novel, “The Lost Husband” follows Libby (Leslie Bibb), a widow who moves with her two children to her aunt’s Texas farm in search of a fresh start. Though city life hasn’t prepared her for chores or livestock, she slowly finds her footing, thanks in part to the rugged but kind farm manager, James (Josh Duhamel).

While it gives off Hallmark vibes, the film’s humor and quiet emotional depth set it apart. Beneath its romantic surface, it’s really about grief, resilience, and the courage to start over. It’s an underrated gem well worth adding to your queue.

    ‘Redeeming Love’

    Watch On

Based on Francine Rivers’ best-selling novel, “Redeeming Love” transports viewers to the California Gold Rush. Angel (Abigail Cowen), orphaned and forced into prostitution, lives a life of pain and mistrust until a farmer named Michael Hosea (Tom Lewis) falls for her and offers her a chance at redemption.

Inspired by the biblical Book of Hosea, Rivers co-wrote the script with director D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye”), creating a film that blends faith, forgiveness and romance. Despite its dark undertones, it’s ultimately a moving story of healing and unconditional love, beautifully told and accessible to all audiences.

    Watch On

Based on Jenny Han’s hit novel, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a modern teen rom-com with irresistible charm. Lara Jean (Lana Condor) is a shy dreamer who writes unsent love letters to her crushes … until they’re mysteriously mailed out. Cue chaos, awkwardness and a fake relationship with heartthrob Peter (Noah Centineo) that might just turn real.

It’s sweet, funny and full of that nostalgic teenage rush. It will remind you what it’s like to fall in love for the first time, even if it’s just on screen.
